How to warm an apartment without heating. How to warm up in a cold room: life hacks from Europeans How to warm up a room without a heater

Perhaps you are a poor student or just a frugal one. What to do if the heating system in your house is still not fixed? Maybe you live in an old, drafty house? Perhaps you want to reduce your CO2 emissions. Regardless of the reason, in cold weather you need to warm up. Here are some helpful tips.

Steps

How to make your house warmer without a heater

    Close all windows carefully. Make sure winter frames, if you have them, are installed and tightly closed. Windows must be closed. Open them during the day when the sun is shining, if the temperature outside is higher than the temperature inside.

    • Windows must be sealed. You can purchase special window putty to seal them better. At the very least, place a shirt or towels in areas where air can seep through, or plug gaps with newspaper.
  1. Hang cheap shower curtains on windows that let in sunlight. This will help keep cold air out from the outside, and the heat from the sun will warm your home. You can also cover the windows tightly with plastic.

    Hang curtains. Heavy curtains block the air flow. Open them when the sun is shining and close them at other times.

    Seal the doors. Check the door frame as well as the space under the door. You can buy and stick a sealant. Again, at least put a towel or something under the door.

    Let as much sunlight into your home as possible. Make sure the sunlight is not obstructed by anything (e.g. plants, awnings). Remove anything that is leaning against the sunny side of your home (it's best to put these items back at night to create extra insulation).

    Close unused rooms. This will create another barrier between you and the cold air from outside. This will also reduce circulation and therefore heat loss.

    • You can purchase a magnetic register at a hardware store that turns off forced air electric heaters in unused rooms. This way, only the rooms you use will be heated, and the heating will be used much more efficiently.
    • Make sure all heaters are mounted in the open, especially where water pipes can freeze. Unblock the circulation of cold air in the heated room (it may be blocked by furniture or carpet) so that the heated air can circulate efficiently.
  2. Lay down the carpet. Carpets and rugs help prevent heat loss through the floor. They tend to be warmer to the touch than wood or stone and are a warmer walking surface.

    Add insulation in the attic. A large amount of heat escapes through the attic as warm air rises and cold air sinks. Make sure the attic is well insulated.

    Light a fire in the fireplace . If you have a fireplace, turn it on to keep the house warm. If you don't have a fireplace, consider installing one. Never leave a fireplace in which a fire is burning unattended.

    Get ready. You will warm up during the cooking process, the kitchen will become warmer from the included stove, and you will please yourself with something tasty and hot.

    Light a candle. Candles can produce a lot of heat. Place them carefully and do not leave them unattended. You can find cheap candles at any grocery store.

    • Use a candle warmer. It won't produce as much heat as a fireplace or real heater, but it will be very cheap heat.
  3. Turn on incandescent lamps. The average incandescent light bulb releases up to 95% of its energy as heat rather than light, making it an extremely efficient heat source.

    • CFLs and LEDs won't help warm a room, so save them for warmer days and use the money saved to pay your heating bill.

How to keep warm in a cold house

  1. Drink warm drinks. Warm drinks will raise your body temperature. This process is very relaxing and even stimulating. Make a cup of tea or coffee. Drink warm broth.

    Dress warmly. Many believe that the largest percentage of heat loss occurs through the head, but in fact, the heat loss of the whole body is the same. However, if you're cold, a hat or scarf definitely won't hurt. A sweater can also work wonders. Dress in layers, especially when it comes to wool or cotton. Put on slippers or warm socks. If you are sitting, wrap yourself in a blanket.

    • If you still have cold feet, buy black tights. They must be opaque. Wear one or even two pairs under your clothes. This will create another layer of clothing to keep you warm. Men can wear long underwear.
  2. Use small spaces. For example, if your bedroom is much smaller than your living room, spend more time in it.

    Go in for sports. 20 minutes of vigorous exercise can not only keep you warm, but also keep you warm after a workout. In addition, a healthy body tends to be more tolerant of cold.

    • Be active. Movement produces heat! The more actively you move, the better your blood circulation. This means that warm blood flows to the fingers and toes, keeping them warm.
  3. Hug a friend or pet. The body of any warm-blooded animal warms. Snuggle up to your dog or cat and keep each other warm.

    Use a hair dryer. You can quickly warm up yourself or cold shoes and clothes before putting them on. You can also warm up the bed before going to bed. Never cover the hair dryer! It can overheat and catch fire.

    Get an electric heater. Instead of heating the entire house or rooms, use a heating pad on a low setting. You can also make your own heating pad:

    • Use a hot water bottle. Thus, it is very convenient to warm hands and feet in a sitting position; you can also put her to bed, at her feet.
    • Heat socks or small pillows filled with rice, dried corn or beans for one minute in the microwave and use as a heating pad or put in bed.
  4. Buy a thick robe. Think of it like a big fluffy blanket with sleeves. It is very warm and comfortable, and you can even sleep in it!

    Go on a visit or vacation. Consciously spend time in a well-heated place that won't cost you anything, such as the library, church, friend's, and so on.

    Try an electric blanket. An electric blanket can keep you warm and cozy all night and is cheaper than inefficient and expensive old heaters.

    Buy a 0°C sleeping bag. A sleeping bag can be used not only for hiking! A sleeping bag designed for zero temperatures will keep you warm if you are freezing in your own home. You can sleep in it right on the bed.

How to heat at least a small room or heat / cook food in the absence of such an achievement of civilization as electricity? The review contains advice and instructions from people who have already encountered such an urgent problem.

In a situation where the room is cold, the heating does not work and the electric heater is either impossible to turn on, or not like - there is no light, for example - everyone can turn out. And Lugansk residents are already familiar with the ban on the use of electric heaters due to the danger of overloading electric lines, which can lead to a complete shutdown of the city from electricity, which the Lugansk City Council warns about almost every day.

And if in the summer, in the absence of light, the only question is how to cook food, then with the onset of cold weather, the problem of heating the room becomes no less acute.

But, as they say, the need for inventions is cunning. And Luhansk residents are not the only ones who faced the problem of heating the premises in the absence of the elementary benefits of civilization. Below we have collected popular and tried and tested methods of heating a small (!) Room, heating food and improvised heaters from improvised materials.

1. Candle heater

The flame of a candle shines quite nicely, but trying to keep warm with it seems like madness. Meanwhile, just as a light source, a candle is an extremely wasteful device. But as a room heater, it can be useful. Under a number of conditions.

California inventor Doyle Doss and his company DOSS Products offer the original Kandle Heeter system, that is, the Candle Heater.

This strange-looking candlestick, claims its creator, can be indispensable in the event of a power outage. Its height is about 23, and its width is about 18 centimeters.

And from its appearance, the inverted pot over the candle attracts attention. In this pot (and it was a flower pot in the “past life”) the main highlight of the system is hidden.

This pot is not simple, but composite. It is made of three pots of different diameters, nested one inside the other and connected by a long metal bolt, on which a whole bunch of washers and nuts are strung (fortunately, the pots usually already have holes in the bottom).

An ordinary candle, burning in a room, gives out very little heat, as it seems. And the point here is that its hot “exhaust” simply goes up and quickly disappears with ventilation.

Meanwhile, the energy reserve in the candle is not so small. Moreover, with the hot flow of combustion products, a large part of its energy content goes away, and only a smaller part passes into light.

The labyrinth cap above the flame collects energy and carefully accumulates it, heating up quite strongly (the central rod is especially hot). And then this heat is slowly transferred to the air by the entire surface of the ceramic radiator.

The pots also help to trap soot from the flames, which is good for keeping the ceiling clean.

The inventor emphasizes that one such device will in no way save you in winter when heating and electricity are turned off, but, on the other hand, it is better than nothing at all.

By the way, clay pots, of course, are not bad, but they have little thermal conductivity and it is better to replace them with a similar metal structure, for example, from cans of various sizes or old Soviet cans from bulk products, who else keeps such as a memory :))

2. Mini tea light heater

The author purchased a tent heater powered by tealights. Several pieces of such heaters save fishermen in tents from freezing. So, a few candles in tins with holes for air intake are also suitable for a small room or office :)

3. Heater + camp stove for heating food from cans - spirit stove

The design is known abroad under the name alcohol stove, well, or in Russian - a spirit stove. In the Swedish army even adopted.

Alcohol is used because it does not smoke when burned. So the dishes remain clean and soot and smoke do not fly in the air. The design is simple, like 3 kopecks and is repeated in a few minutes from any materials at hand. As a donor for the stove, for example, a beer can, a can of coffee or condensed milk is suitable.

More specifically: you need a small iron container with an iron lid, or you will have to cover it with something.

So: we take a jar, a ruler, a strip of a leaf in a box and a marker or any drawing or scratching object.

1. We mark a strip on the bank stepping back from the top by a third. The easiest way to do this is by scrolling the jar while holding the marker in one position.

2. We wrap a strip of paper around the edge of the mark and fasten it with a piece of adhesive tape or glue.

3. We begin to drill, pierce with an awl or cut holes with a knife along the marked strip. In this case, I made a series of holes with a diameter of 0.8 mm through 10mm and through 5mm - which option is better for you - decide for yourself. You can see how they burn below. A small hole diameter for proper combustion is better than a large one, but you can make 3-5 holes and a centimeter. The uniformity of the holes is a purely aesthetic moment to get a beautiful crown of flame as from a conventional gas stove. All!

Well, not quite of course, now we are learning to kindle it. It is necessary to pour alcohol and close the lid, 50 ml burns for 15 minutes or more. Put on a non-combustible surface and shake lightly so that the alcohol pours a little through the holes on the outside of the jar. We set fire to the alcohol outside and wait until it burns out. We repeat the procedure until we get a self-sustaining flame from improvised nozzles around the jar. Usually it is enough to repeat 2-3 times and everything starts working by itself.

Its principle of operation is simple: the flame heats the walls of the jar, the heat is transferred down the walls to the alcohol, the alcohol boils near the walls and the pressure inside rises, the alcohol vapors come out under pressure through the holes and, mixing with air, burn beautifully. Now we put a pot, a kettle, a mug on top, or we just warm ourselves around the stove - it gives a lot of heat and burns for a long time.

For greater heat transfer, you can put a home-made spirit stove in a large iron container, which would heat up and give off heat:

The smaller the number of holes, the harder it is to kindle, but less fuel consumption and less heat from it. A liter of water boils in less than 10 minutes. Resistant to wind, put out by covering, lay as much fuel as necessary, otherwise you will have to wait for burnout or pour hot alcohol back into the container, which is not safe.

Similar "one-cup" options from a can with a filling hole that closes with a coin and from an aerosol can:

4. Wood burner for heating food

And here they offer a slightly more complex design of a wood-burning burner - from 2-3 cans. True, with this option, you need to remember about ventilation in a tent or room.

5. Heating pads from plastic bottles

This method of warming up an ice bed or warming your feet while sitting at a desk is well known to students living in hostels :))

Ordinary plastic bottles can be filled with hot water and used instead of a heating pad.

Attention! If the temperature of the water is close to boiling, then when filling the bottle, trouble will definitely happen: the bottle will begin to shrink ... The water temperature of 60-70 degrees is optimal.

The experience of employees shows that on slightly flattened bottles, not completely filled with warm / hot water, tightly closed (!) You can even sit :) or carry 1-2 bottles of hot water in a backpack to "warm" your back))

By the way, in the summer of the same bottles you can make a "conditioner".

Freeze a few bottles filled with water, put them on a tray or towel (they will gradually thaw) in front of the fan on. The air temperature in the room will drop significantly.

The most important: in an effort to keep warm, do not forget about fire safety rules and be careful!

"I want to be Wim Hov!" I said. MCH felt my forehead. I had to explain: “He is known as Iceman, he easily plunges into a container of ice, climbs Mont Blanc in just shorts!” Beloved sighed: “Hovom, so Hovom. Just don't forget to put on socks and a scarf, otherwise you'll catch a cold again!

The first commandment of the freezing: not a step out of the house without eating oatmeal! Or buckwheat. Or something else. Food is energy, and most of it (up to 75%) will go to warm yourself. By the way, in the cold season, you can eat 400 calories more per day.

The second commandment: vegetables are good, but chicken and lamb are needed no less in winter. If you continue to eat like it's summer, you can earn chronic fatigue syndrome. And if you often feel cold, switch to “hot” foods: meat, fish, nuts, potatoes, cheese, pumpkin, dried apricots, bananas, grapes. Onion and horseradish also help, but this is not for everybody. And, most importantly, do not forget about the spices: ginger, cinnamon, curry, pepper, cumin and garlic - they warm almost instantly.

2. Follow the degree (drink)

There was such a Soviet poster: an uncle in a jacket waves his hand away from an outstretched glass of vodka. It's time to hang it on the wall. The fact is that alcohol in the cold can only warm for a short time, and after that the body will rapidly begin to lose heat. By the way, coffee is also not warm. It is better to drink herbal tea, tea with ginger or lemongrass, as well as hot chocolate (a favorite drink of many climbers). And take note of this recipe: add half a teaspoon of cinnamon to a glass of apple juice. Bring to a boil and drink.

3. Work out tummo

Tibetan monks are able to dry wet towels on their naked bodies on a winter night. They own the practice of tummo. It is based on a visualization method: sitting on the snow, a monk imagines how a hair-sized flame is born in his body, it flares up and begins to fill the body. Finally, the inner heat breaks out. It's not just a legend. The effectiveness of tummo has been proven by researchers.

4. Massage your hands and feet

Do you know when the thought of cold appears? When hands or feet freeze. To quickly save the limbs from the cold - massage them. There is little time, arrange an aromatherapy session: add essential oils to any foot or hand cream - 4 drops of sage, 3 drops of fennel and 2 drops of ginger. The oils will cause a quick burst of heat and will envelop the body in fragrance. You can do a massage before going out into the street, and upon returning to the heat. Another recipe: rub a drop of thyme or clove oil into the crook of your elbow. It will get warmer.

5. Breathe properly

"Our lungs can warm!" biophysicist Carl Trincher suggested half a century ago. His followers-enthusiasts found out: in winter you need to inhale slowly and not very deeply, this calms the nervous system and allows you to quickly adapt to the cold. If you feel that “five more minutes and I will completely freeze”, use the method of the monks already mentioned: inhale with both nostrils, and exhale through one, holding the other.

6. Keep up with the latest (science)

USB gloves were designed specifically for office freezing. It looks like ordinary knitted fingerless gloves, but a wire with a connector extends from them, like a flash drive. You connect it to a computer, and in five minutes the gloves heat up to 46 degrees! By the way, there are USB slippers of a similar design. The microwave heating pad (Cozy Cuddles) looks like a soft toy. After two minutes in the microwave, she keeps the heat for hours and shares it with the owner. Thermal package - an option for long walks. Put it in a jacket, it will create extra warmth.

7. Forget about loneliness

Scientists have found that a person who feels lonely freezes faster. There is also an inverse relationship: if you look at a photo of a loved one, imagine a family or a bosom friend, you will immediately feel a surge of warmth. Even more effective - hugs. We are warm-blooded and produce heat. Cuddle with your loved one more often.

8. Temper , it saves

I do not call for jumping into the hole. You can also chill at home. Put a wet towel in the freezer for half an hour, then trample on it for a few minutes. Put on warm socks immediately after the procedure. If you do this every night, your feet will get used to and become less sensitive to cold.

9. Try not to be nervous

Stress affects our body in the same way as frost. With a strong emotional shock, blood drains from the limbs and "hurries" to the brain so that a person can make the right decision. When cold and stress meet, the chance of freezing increases! Learn to relax. This exercise is suitable: for a short time, strain all the muscles, and then sharply relax them.

10. Last resort

It is rumored that the actors, in order not to freeze on winter shootings, stick a mustard patch on their shoulders. Blood quickly rushes to the surface of the skin and gives a feeling of warmth. Alternatively, you can rub your legs with an anti-cellulite cream with cayenne pepper. Same effect. Vodka works just as well as pepper. Another “insulation” is paper. If you have to stand outside for a long time, put paper insoles in your shoes. It will get easier.

PS. Thermal underwear is also great. Verified and valid.

The question of how to warm a room, these days, arises more often than we would like. The reasons may be different: cold early autumn, cold houses, turning off the heating, etc. There are two main ways to solve this problem:

  1. apply the so-called "folk tricks";
  2. use of heating appliances.

To date, there is a considerable selection of heating devices, let's look at several types, and compare them with each other in the following parameters:

  • principle of operation;
  • advantages and disadvantages in use;
  • price.

The most popular and effective heating devices will be considered, such as:

  1. convector.
  2. fan heater or heat gun;
  3. oil heater.
  4. Convector.

This device relatively recently appeared on the shelves of the store, but quickly gains momentum and wins its fans.

There are several types of convectors:

  • Water;
  • Electrical;
  • Gas.

The basic principle of heat generation for any of them is the continuous circulation of air masses through the convector body, usually from the bottom up, since cold air is much heavier than warm air.

But still, there are differences between them, everything depends on what room they plan to use it in, how long and how often. Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of each of them separately.

Advantages of a water convector:

  1. has a fairly low heating temperature, but at the same time keeps the heating at a good level, heats up quickly and can significantly reduce energy costs;
  2. the weight of the convector is relatively small, which allows you to mount it on walls and plasterboard partitions;
  3. the convector blocks the penetration of air from the street into the room, if it is fixed under the windows, something like a thermal curtain is formed.

Flaws:

  1. The distribution of air mass flows is uneven, drafts can form;
  2. constant circulation of dust in the room;
  3. the water convector does not allow the use of artificial ventilation in the room, since all the heated air initially goes up and, accordingly, it will simply go out;
  4. they do not heat rooms with high ceilings well, since all the heated air accumulates at the top.

Advantages of an electric convector:

  1. silent operation of the device;
  2. ease of use and installation;
  3. Efficiency reaches 95%;
  4. heating speed;
  5. price.

Flaws:

  1. Efficiency drops noticeably over time;
  2. high power consumption;
  3. cannot heat large rooms;
  4. dries the air.

Advantages of gas convectors:

  1. safety in use;
  2. is made from environmentally friendly materials.

Flaws:

  • to install this device, you must invite employees of gas companies.

Prices for convectors range from 2000 rubles. up to 50,000 rubles The most economical in price are electric convectors, the most expensive are water convectors.

In general, the choice of convectors in stores is very diverse, with the help of them you can heat either a room or a whole house. The choice always remains with the consumer.

  • Fan heater or heat gun

This equipment is equipped with a heating element, on which the air coming from the fan blows, due to this, flows of warm air masses are formed.

There are three types of fan heaters: heating elements, spiral and ceramic, but the principle of operation does not change from this.

The obvious advantages of these heaters are:

  1. room heating rate;
  2. the temperature can be controlled with a thermostat;
  3. low cost.

Flaws:

  1. any of the listed fan heaters will dry the air;
  2. if various small particles enter the device, an unpleasant odor may come out or harmful substances may be released;
  3. noisy;
  4. air currents will lift all the dust from the surfaces of the room;
  5. there can be sudden temperature changes between the ceiling and the floor.

On average, the price of thermal fans varies from 800 rubles. up to 20,000 rubles

Fan heaters are suitable for short-term use. This is one of the economical ways to warm up a room.

  • oil heater

It is a sealed case with a heater installed inside and filled with special liquid oil. When the oil is heated, the body of the heater heats up, and due to self-convection, the air in the room also begins to heat up.

Its undoubted advantages are:

  1. affordable price;
  2. long service life;
  3. economical consumption of electricity;
  4. does not dry the air;
  5. safety as it has no exposed heating elements.

Flaws:

  1. slow heating of the room;
  2. massiveness.

The price of an oil heater varies from 1,500 to 12,000 rubles.

Overall very good value for money.

Infrared heaters

These devices will be described in a separate chapter, as they are very different from previous heating devices. They do not heat the air in the room at all and do not interact with it in any way, but heat objects, including the floor and walls. Due to the fact that the wavelength of infrared radiation is quite large, they can heat large rooms. Thanks to the heating of ceilings and walls, you can both warm the room and keep warm for some time without using a heater.

The advantages of such a heater are as follows:

  1. instant heating;
  2. does not dry the air;
  3. do not burn oxygen;
  4. durable;
  5. silent;
  6. create the effect of "warm floors";
  7. compatible with any ventilation systems.

Flaws:

  1. heat pointwise;
  2. the problem of finding people under infrared rays;
  3. high price.

Such heaters are more used for small service or office premises, less often for the home. The cost of high-quality infrared heaters is quite high, and several copies are needed to heat large rooms.

The price varies from 2,000 to 18,000 rubles.

Thermal curtain or preventive method of room insulation

The principle of operation of any thermal curtain is to create a powerful air flow that does not allow cold air from the street to enter the room. Those. a kind of air damper is created between the outdoor air and the warm room air. Heating the room is not the main purpose of this appliance.

Advantages of a thermal curtain:

  1. ease of use;
  2. Economical use;
  3. Mounted either above the window or above the doorway, which saves space in the room.

Flaws:

  1. does not heat the air in the room;
  2. installation complexity.

The price of a thermal curtain depends on its size, flow rate and type of heating element.

This option is suitable only in case of early preparation for winter or cold weather.

Simplified insulation methods

Of course, when we are faced with the question of how to warm a room, we need to take into account all the parameters: the dimensions of the room, heat losses, the heating system, the height of the ceilings, etc. Based on this and financial capabilities, you can choose the best option for yourself.

But if you do not have the opportunity to approach the issue radically, there are always old effective "grandmother's" methods:

  1. it is necessary to carefully insulate windows and balcony doors, especially if you are the owner of old wooden frames. This is very important, since cold air flows will constantly penetrate the room, no matter how you insulate it from the inside. To do this, you need to purchase cotton wool, foam rubber, synthetic winterizer or special putty in the store;
  2. if the room is constantly cold, it will be advisable to insulate the walls either outside or inside. This requires certain material costs;
  3. hang heavy dark-colored curtains and make sure they are open during the day to let in as much sunlight as possible, and pulled tight in the evening. Dense fabric will prevent the penetration of cold air;
  4. insulate floors or lay thick fleecy carpets;
  5. turn on incandescent bulbs. An ordinary light bulb transfers 95% of its energy in the form of heat;
  6. close unused rooms, this will reduce the area of the room that needs to be heated and create another barrier to the penetration of cold air into the room.

Based on all of the above, we can conclude that there are quite a few options for heating a room. Everyone chooses for themselves more acceptable in price and quality.

Do you know why every September you are forced to freeze in your own apartment, like manna from heaven, waiting for the central heating to be turned on? The fact is that in Russia there are regulations according to which heating can be started only after the average daily temperature for five days in a row does not exceed 8 degrees above zero.

In theory, during this time, apartment buildings should not yet have time to cool to a critical temperature. By the way, it is 18 degrees above zero. The thermometer can drop even lower - but no more than three degrees. Only when the temperature in your apartment drops below 15 degrees, the utilities may have problems. In you, they can start even earlier - many can get sick even at a 20-degree temperature, not to mention a colder room.

Most often, tips on heating a room are relevant for the night time, when the temperature in the apartment drops to the minimum values per day, and we cannot actively spend time in order to warm up in this way. However, freezing in your own apartment at night due to the turned off central heating radiators is completely optional. AiF.ru knows at least five ways to raise the temperature in the apartment, so as not to come down with the disease in anticipation of the start of the heating season.

Air conditioner

To heat the apartment in the first way, we need an air conditioner. For some reason, many people forget that an air conditioner can perform not only its direct function - to cool the room, but also act in a completely opposite direction - to heat the air in the apartment.

In most models, it is enough to simply set the temperature with the control panel above the one that you observe in the apartment at that moment. The air conditioner will automatically begin to drive warm air around the room, warming it. In some cases, you will have to look into the manual (if you saved it) or look for instructions for the air conditioner on the Internet - you have to turn on the special heating function that should be in your device.

electric heater

The most common way to warm up in a cold room with the central heating turned off is to turn on an electric heater.

The two most familiar types of electric heaters are the fan heater and the oil heater. The first, however, is not suitable for night time: it is too noisy and not designed for long-term use. The second operates on the principle of a conventional radiator, only it is not water that is heated in it, but special oil. It takes a long time to warm up a room, but modern oil heaters are perfectly safe to leave overnight.

Recently, mankind has invented several more types of electric heaters. The first of them is an electric convector: cold air, passing through a heating coil, heats up and exits from the top of the device. But such heaters also have disadvantages - they are quite bulky, like oil heaters, by the way, and relatively expensive.

The most modern heaters are infrared and carbon. They work on the same principle - a lamp that emits infrared rays heats people and objects without heating the air. But such a heater is also unlikely to be suitable for a night vigil - a lamp, at least IR, at least carbon, emits a fairly strong glow and will interfere with sleep.

Bathroom

The third way to raise the temperature in the apartment is very simple. To use it, just open the doors to the bathroom. During the day, we would also advise you to take a hot bath, but at night its heat will not be enough - the water will quickly cool down, giving up all the heat, and will become useless.

The meaning of open doors is that the temperature in the bathroom is a priori several degrees higher than throughout the apartment. This happens thanks to the hot water riser, which acts in the same way as a central heating battery. That's just for the summer no one turns it off. Not the last role in heating the bathroom is played by a heated towel rail, which also remains hot 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Of course, you won’t heat the whole apartment like that, but it’s still possible to raise the overall temperature by 1-2 degrees using this method.

Electric heating pads

In the second half of September, in the evening in your own unheated apartment, one more electrical appliance will help to warm up - a heating pad. Typically, heating pads have a medical function and are used to warm up some part of the body that needs heat therapy. But they can also be used for other than their intended purpose, if the situation forces.

In most modern electric heaters, which are present in the assortment on the shelves of pharmacies, there is a special temperature controller. By setting it to the minimum value, you can create a completely comfortable atmosphere in bed that will allow you not to freeze on a September night.

Do not despair if even the minimum value in the electric heating pad is too hot for you. The heating pad can be placed not on its traditional place under the sheet, but on top, on the blanket. In this case, it will give you less heat, which will partially go into the atmosphere, and you will not experience overheating.

Carpets and crevices

It is worth noting that we ourselves, even at night during sleep, produce a fairly large amount of heat. In order to heat a room exclusively on its own, it is necessary to minimize heat loss.

First of all, they occur due to the presence of cracks. If you do not have plastic windows, then you will have to glue their perimeter with a special insulation that will not allow cold air to enter the apartment through the cracks, and warm air to seep out. The same applies to the front door - its perimeter should also be glued with a special insulation.

Also, cool surfaces have a big impact on the temperature in the room. First of all, this applies to the floor and glass on the windows. To prevent the air in the whole room from being cooled by window panes, it is better to curtain the windows with thick curtains at night, which will cover almost the entire space from the cornices to the floor. This will keep some of the cool air between the window and the curtains, preventing it from getting into the rest of the room. All this is due to the low degree of thermal conductivity. Thanks to the same property of dense fabric, you can keep the heat in the room by covering the floor with any carpet.
