Magnet adjustment on plastic windows. Features of adjusting plastic windows of different types. Preparing a window for winter: how to adjust a plastic window so as not to blow

Fittings for plastic windows allow you to adjust their tight closing and, if necessary, adjust them depending on the season. However, sometimes even high-quality expensive fittings require repair. In this article we will tell you how plastic windows are adjusted and how you can fix minor breakdowns of mechanisms yourself. To do this, it is enough to know the position and action of the main tuning nodes and have the necessary tools.

Depending on the current problem and the hardware manufacturer, you will need to repair:

  • 4 mm hexagon (almost every cyclist has a set);
  • a screwdriver with nozzles marked T, TX (in the form of a star), as well as an ordinary Phillips No. 3-4;
  • pliers;
  • spray WD-40.

Adjustment points

Consider popular situations when PVC windows and fittings need to be adjusted for winter and summer, and we will also tell you how to fix minor malfunctions. Only the general technology will be described, some nuances may vary depending on the manufacturer. In any case, this can be found in the instructions.

Repair of window and balcony handles

Loose door handle

To fix a dangling door handle, you need to tighten its mount. This is the simplest adjustment of a plastic window; an overlay is provided on the bottom for access to the adjustment mechanism on each handle. It is pulled towards itself and the entire element is rotated perpendicularly. So you can see two bolts that are tightened with a regular Phillips screwdriver. If you cannot remove the decorative nozzle with your hands, be careful: it is made of soft plastic, it is easy to damage it with a sharp object.

Installing or replacing a handle with a lock

If you have children, it is important to protect them from the danger of falling out the window. It is for this that special handles with a lock were invented, which will not allow the child to open the window on their own.

To remove the old handle, first remove the decorative nozzle, as in the previous version. Unscrew the two bolts and pull out the handle with light wiggles. Then insert a new one in the same position and fix it on the bolts. Replacing the window handle will take literally one minute, the process is shown in the video.

The handle sticks or does not reach the desired position

This problem occurs for various reasons. Perhaps cleaning and lubricating all fittings and handles is useful here. If the handle closes with great effort, most likely, adjusting the pressure of the plastic window sash will help.

To lubricate the mechanism, the handle is pulled out, cleaned and vacuumed it and the mounting hole. Then it remains to lubricate the moving parts with a liquid consistency lubricant, for example, sewing machine oil. In the presence of corrosion, the surfaces are treated with a WD 40 spray.

Information on how plastic window fittings are adjusted to reduce sash pressure is presented in a separate section below.

If the handle is stuck

If it so happens that the handle is jammed, you cannot forcibly close it, breaking it out with giblets. Most likely, the blocking mechanism did not work correctly, which does not allow changing the position of the window during the open state. To solve this problem, manually remove the lock lever located on the end of the sash next to the handle. The blocker can have two designs:

  1. a plate, in the form of a tongue, fixed to the end, which, when the window is opened, changes its position and becomes at an angle relative to the seal;
  2. a clip that, when opened, goes onto the seal.

Window sash adjustment in winter and summer

Checking the frame pressure is very simple: we take a sheet of paper and press it with a sash. If the sheet is easy to pull out, then the clamp is bad, a mandatory adjustment is required. If the sheet is pulled out with difficulty, or even breaks, then the setting is correct.

Over time, the sealing gum becomes no longer as voluminous as before, and a gap may form in the window. However, more often this gap appears during seasonal fluctuations, with sudden changes in temperature. To correct this problem, it is often not necessary to change the seal. The sashes of plastic windows are adjusted by twisting specially provided mechanisms.

Setting up plastic windows for winter and summer is especially important if there are large temperature fluctuations in your area. This reduces the internal stress of the structure and fittings and increases the service life of the rubber seal.

    • At the end of the sash, in the slots of the metal plugs, there are oval cylinders called the trunnion (eccentric). There are grooves on the frame, into which the hooks enter when the handle is turned, in order to firmly press the sash. Their adjustment can be done by changing the position of the eccentrics or hooks.

    • The photo shows an example of adjusting plastic windows, which are easy to do on your own without calling a wizard. As you can see, to increase the pressure, you need to rotate the pin by 90 °. Depending on the hardware manufacturer, it can be turned either manually or with a screwdriver/pliers. Please note that the trunnions (which are located in the photo on the right) do not rotate around their axis, but along a small radius.
    • If it is not possible to adjust the eccentrics, tighten the reciprocal hooks on the frame, usually this will require a hex wrench. You can also put a plate under the "answer" if the trunnions do not reach it.
    • When the frame pressure at the handle weakens or increases, you can proceed to setting the pressure from the side of the canopies. To do this, remove the plastic plug from the bottom canopy.
    • Inside you can find two hexagon bolts and one hidden, with which you can adjust the position of the frame flaps. The clamping force is regulated by a bolt, which is located perpendicular to the window. Adjustment is best done with the window closed. Turning it clockwise will increase the pressure on the sash, and counterclockwise will weaken it.
    • The upper part of the sash is attached differently, to a special mechanism called "scissors". To gain access to the upper part, the window is opened and the lock mechanism is pressed at the end of the sash (it is fixed at an angle to the rubber gasket and springs).
    • When the blocker is pressed, the handle is turned to the ventilation mode. The sash will be removed from the upper hinge and will hang only on the "scissors" on top and on the lower canopy. This gives access to the head, the adjustment of which will change the frame pressure.

If the edge of the sash touches the frame

When the window has been open for a long time or it has been opened/closed abruptly, the retaining mechanisms may become loose or deformed. If there are no serious defects, then tightening the loops should help.

    • To change the position of the sash with a hexagon, tighten the bolts on the lower canopy and on the “scissors” system from above. Remove the protective plastic cap from the bottom hinge, and in its upper part you can find a hex bolt. To lower the sash, it is twisted counterclockwise, and to raise it, it is twisted clockwise.
    • On massive metal-plastic windows and doors, there are sometimes additional closers that slightly raise the sash before closing. If there is such a mechanism, then it will need to be slightly adjusted.
    • If the sash touches the frame not from above or below, but from the sides, another mechanism is adjusted for this. At the bottom of the canopy, a bolt is found parallel to the window. For convenient access to it, there are two exits with key heads (from the side of the slope and the sash).

  • If the slope is too close and does not allow access to the bolt, the sash is opened and the second method is resorted to. If you twist it clockwise, the sash will move to the right, and counterclockwise - to the left.
  • The top setting is a little different. To do this, the sash is fully opened, a slightly recessed head of the adjusting bolt is found on the side of the mechanism. By changing its position, you can adjust the position of the flaps left and right in the upper part.

If the plastic windows are broken, the repair is quite easy to do on your own without calling the master. The main problems with the position and clamping of the valves, loosening of the mechanisms are solved in just a minute with the help of a simple adjustment of the fittings.

Hello dear readers!

We did a general house cleaning.

While the wife was washing the windows, it turned out that the handles were a little loose. Pulling them up is easy if you know how to do it. I have already taught my wife.

Now I gathered my thoughts and decided to write a useful post for you.

I tried to collect all the tips in detailed instructions, in which you will find not only information about setting up handles, but also a lot of other things.

You just have to try them out.

The active use of metal-plastic windows in today's realities is caused by a number of advantages of these structural elements.

And if such indicators of windows as reliability, durability and aesthetics are inherent in their design, then in order to obtain high-quality consumer criteria (heat, noise insulation), it is desirable to carry out maintenance of systems in a timely manner.

Moreover, in order for the adjustment of plastic windows to be done at the highest level with your own hands, it will be enough just to stock up on a minimum set of tools (a set of “star” keys, pliers, a set of hexagons, screwdrivers) and fixtures.

The list of main malfunctions that can be eliminated by the consumer on their own includes the following items:

  • Rubbing the sash window on the frame in the process of its opening - closing;
  • Loose fit of the sash to the base of the window frame;
  • Handle breakage.

Do-it-yourself PVC window adjustment

To begin with, it is desirable to consider in detail the method of adjusting the window. So, if it is necessary to change the location of the sash (for free opening), then it is advisable to perform a series of sequential procedures:

  1. Open window;
  2. Turn the adjusting screw located in the end part of the sash (upper hinge area) 3-5 turns clockwise;
  3. Close a window;
  4. Remove the protection from the bottom loop;
  5. Using a hexagon, turn the adjusting screw of the lower hinge 3 to 5 turns clockwise;
  6. Check the operation of the window and the absence of rubbing during operation, and if necessary, re-adjust the element.

In a situation where it is required to strengthen the degree of fit of the sash to the base of the frame, proceed as follows. First, for these purposes, a system of eccentrics is used, which are located on the end of the sash from the side where the handle is located.

Helpful advice!

When it is required to strengthen the degree of fit of the sash to the base of the frame, an eccentric system is used

Why the eccentrics with the help of pliers or a hexagon must be rearranged to the appropriate position.

In some window models, the designs of the eccentrics are made in such a way that in order to adjust them, it is enough just to pull the eccentric towards you, then make the necessary rotation, and after that release the eccentric (it will be pressed due to the spring).

In general, experts recommend performing a similar procedure for adjusting eccentrics twice a year (off-season period), increasing or decreasing the degree of pressing.

However, by this method, it is possible to ensure the adjustment of the pressing of the window from the side where the handle is located. When the user needs to increase the pressing of the sash from the side of the canopies, they do it in a different way.

So, if it is necessary to provide a stronger pressing of the sash (from the side of the awnings) of a rotary-type window structure, then use the adjusting screw on the lower hinge.

When it is required to perform a similar procedure for a tilt-and-turn design, it will be necessary to perform additional adjustment of the window sash pressure due to the upper hinge.

For what it is necessary to perform the procedures in the following sequence:

  1. Open the sash;
  2. Turn the sash handle to the "ventilation" position (simulating the closing of the window by pressing the blocker);
  3. To increase the pressure on the sash, turn the adjusting screw on the hinge clockwise, while to loosen the pressure, turn the knob in the opposite direction.

Certain types of window fittings are adjusted using special taps (usually located on the window frame from the side of the handle) that can be adjusted using hex keys.

So, for a stronger pressing of the window sash to the base of the frame, you will need to move the answer outward (toward the street). They also use clamping mechanisms located on the frame from the side of the canopies.

Their adjustment is carried out with a hexagon, while a stronger pressure of the sash to the frame will be provided when the tongue of the mechanism is extended more strongly.

A fairly common defect in a metal-plastic window is the tight rotation of the handle. Often this circumstance is caused by the fact that the fittings do not have sufficient lubrication.

In this case, window repair comes down to banal lubrication of the locking mechanism and all rubbing elements with machine oil or aerosol lubricant (for example, WD-40).

A similar method is used to adjust the doors of balcony blocks.

In a situation where it is necessary to completely replace the handle, you should pull the decorative trim of the handle towards you with your fingers and then turn it 90 º (in order to free access to the screws).

By unscrewing the fixing screws, the handle can be easily removed. And the procedure for fixing a new handle must be performed in reverse order.

It should be noted that the guarantee of long-term and high-quality operation of the window depends on the timely performance of service operations, and even in the absence of visual defects, it is advisable to carry out these procedures at least once a year.

Why should all the main components be lubricated, and the rubber seals should be moistened. Also, a few words must be said about the rules for using windows:

  • Turn the window handle only when the sash is fully closed;
  • Do not allow the presence of foreign objects in the free cavity of the window frame;
  • The operation of windows should be carried out taking into account the performance of all finishing works (slopes).

However, it should be noted that despite the elementary nature of the described methods, troubleshooting and window adjustment should be started only after a detailed acquaintance with the principle of operation of the installation.

Otherwise, the more correct method would be the help of specialists in this field.

For the correct and safe adjustment of plastic windows, you need to know several features of their design in order to avoid any damage.

Next, we will tell you how to solve some of the problems that can arise with metal-plastic windows, as well as share recommendations on how plastic windows should be properly adjusted.

In order to independently adjust the plastic window, you must use a 4-mm hex key, which is popularly called the "four".

Adjustment types

1. Consider first the horizontal adjustment of metal-plastic windows. To properly adjust the window, you must use the top and bottom hinges, which have a hole for a hex key.

By rotating the hex key clockwise, the sash is pulled to the hinge. The bottom of the window opposite the hinge should rise slightly.

2. If the hinge is to be moved away from the sash, the rotation of the key must be correspondingly counterclockwise, which will lead to a slight lowering of the bottom of the sash.

The lower hinge is adjusted inside the room when the window is open, and outside when it is closed.

The adjustment process is carried out in the same way in two versions. By adjusting the horizontal plane, the frame can be moved up to 2 millimeters, and the bevel can also be eliminated.

3. Vertical adjustment of the window is carried out at the expense of the lower hinge. The hex key is placed under the cap that covers the loop.

Eliminating the bevel of the frame in the vertical direction is also possible up to 2 millimeters.

4. Adjustment of the opening mode is carried out by eccentrics, which are located along the perimeter of the PVC window. When turning the handle, the eccentrics should go beyond the pressure pads, which are also located along the perimeter of the window.

Turning the eccentric to the right, you can strengthen the window clamps to the frame, while turning it to the left, the clamp will loosen. On the eccentric there is a risk that shows the degree of pressure.

If the risk is directed to the seal, the window is strongly pressed against the frame, but if it is towards the outside, it is weakly pressed. In order to rotate the eccentrics, you can use pliers or a wrench.

Sometimes plates are used for clamping, which are located on the window sash.

The appropriate level of pressure between the window and the frame depends on the time of year.

It is quite clear that the pressure should be strong in winter and weakened in summer. You can adjust the clamp in the range of 0.8 millimeters.

5. You can adjust the loop pressure for both loops at once or only one loop. This will depend on what fittings are installed on your window.

If necessary, adjust the lower hinge, first remove the cap, and then rotate the bolt in the desired direction, which is located perpendicular to the window.

6. Only hinged doors can be adjusted to the top hinge. When adjusting the top hinge, the frame must be supported, as it will only be held by the bottom hinge.

Some plastic windows are equipped with a lock that prevents the open window sash from tilting. Blockers are a lever or clip.

In order to tilt the open plastic window, it is necessary to turn the handle to the ventilation mode while pressing the blocker.

When is uPVC window adjustment needed?

With the help of adjustment, many problems of metal-plastic windows can be eliminated:

  • The window sash sagged, causing the sash bottom to touch the plastic frame. Suitable for horizontal or vertical adjustment.
  • Vertical or horizontal displacement of the sash has caused the middle sash to touch the frame. To fix the problem, it is necessary to move the sash evenly to one side.
  • When air enters through the seal, it is necessary to adjust the sash pressure.
  • To adjust the loose handle, turn the plate, which is located at the base, at a right angle and tighten all the screws with a screwdriver. The base of the handle can also be equipped with a ventilation regulation plate - "combs".
  • With the help of engine oil, you can get rid of such a problem as tight turning of the handle. To lubricate the hinges, eccentrics, clamping mechanisms and platforms, you can use any brushes or cotton swabs that are at hand.

When is adjustment required? Here are the most common signs that a window is ripe for adjustment.

  • When opening (closing), the sash clings to the fittings or to the box.
  • There is a noticeable draft from the window.
  • The handle has become loose or vice versa has become very tight.
  • When the window is open, the handle is jammed and the window does not close.

I want to warn you right away that some problems are the result of a violation of manufacturing or installation technology. Unfortunately, not all of them can be corrected by adjustments ...

We will consider the adjustment of balcony doors separately!

Before we start studying the topic “Adjusting plastic window fittings”, let's define the terminology. The fittings consist of several main units, each of which is responsible for its own area.

The part on the sash is commonly called the “Locking Mechanism”, and the parts attached to the frame are called “Answers”.

To work, we need the following:

  • A set of keys - hexagons.
  • A set of nozzles - stars.
  • Spatula for working with double-glazed windows.
  • Putty knife.
  • Rubber mallet.
  • Linings for double-glazed windows of different thicknesses.
  • Screwdrivers and pliers.
  • Lubricant for fittings.
  • Soft brush.

Much of the above may not be useful to you, but if you are going to adjust the fittings of plastic windows, it is advisable to prepare thoroughly.

Before moving on to practical exercises, I will make a small digression.

Note!

DO NOT adjust the fittings of plastic windows yourself in two cases.

First, if the warranty period has not expired. You still don’t know how to get anything, but you will lose the guarantee for sure.

Secondly, if you are not sure of your abilities. In this case, it would be better to turn to professionals.

Well, with those who are used to solving their problems on their own, we move on.

Now let's decide which node is capable of what.

The lower hinge allows you to move the bottom of the sash up - down, left - right and adjust the pressure.

The trunnions of the locking mechanism are responsible for pressing the entire sash.

In some types of fittings, the pressure is regulated by otvetki, on the frame.

The upper part of the tilt-and-turn mechanism, called "scissors", can shift the top of the sash to the left - to the right and work with a clamp.

Now we will take each case and analyze it in detail. Go ahead.

Let's continue the analysis of the topic How to adjust plastic windows.

What to do if the bottom of the sash on the side of the handle clings to the answer or to the box - the sash sagged. I want to say right away that on large, heavy doors, there MUST be a “microlift”.

This mechanism, at the moment of closing the sash, resting against a special answer, raises the sash by 2-3 mm, thereby relieving the load from the rest of the fittings. For example, it is unacceptable to install a balcony door without a lift!

And so, the sash sagged. This is treated either by lifting the sash up, or by retracting the bottom of the sash in the direction of sagging, and the top in the direction of the loops.

To raise the sash, remove the decorative cap from the bottom hinge, insert the hexagon from above into the hole and tighten the stop screw.

To shift the bottom of the sash, turn the screw on the frame part of the hinge.

The top of the sash can be moved with a screw located in the scissors from the side of the top hinge. To get close to it, you need to open the sash and rotate the screw to the desired position of the sash.

In general, try not to keep the doors open for a very long time, so as not to sag.

  • The handle is loose - we remove the decorative plate under it, turn it 90 * and tighten the two screws. If, on the contrary, the handle began to turn more and more difficult, a crunch is heard in the mechanism, then it's time to make a complete revision of the window fittings.
  • How to adjust plastic windows, if the handle turns further, to the “ventilation” position, the sash falls out and hangs on the scissors, leaning on one lower loop. This means that the blocker did not have time to work.

It is usually located on the locking mechanism near the handle and, when the sash is open or tilted for ventilation, is located at an angle to the locking mechanism. In this position, the blocker does not allow turning the handle where it is not necessary.

In our case, to return the sash to its place, you need to move the plate to the sealing rubber with your finger, set the sash to the “just open” position (press the top of the sash from the hinge side) and turn the handle to the desired position.

How to adjust plastic windows if there are drafts.

First of all, carefully inspect the sealing rubber on the sash and frame.

If diaper rash, scuffs and tears are clearly visible, the rubber must be changed. If you decide that the rubber is in order, then you need to increase the pressure of the sash to the frame.

To begin with, check the coincidence of the locking rods (pins) on the sash with the answers on the frame, as in “Adjusting the balcony door”.

On the lower hinge, a screw is responsible for the clamp, located in the body of that part of the hinge that is on the sash. Depending on the brand of fittings, you will need a screwdriver, a hexagon or an asterisk.

But, unfortunately, not all manufacturers install a bottom hinge with pressure adjustment on the windows.

In this case, you will have to adjust the clamp, from the side of the hinges, with “scissors”, “hidden clamp” and a pin on the “middle lock”.

An eccentric screw located on the scissors is responsible for the clamp in the area of the upper loop.

To make it available, do the following:

  1. open the sash
  2. finger press the blocker to the rubber
  3. turn the handle up
  4. and, carefully, we remove the top of the sash from the frame so that the scissors become visible.

The blocker may be of a different design, where the blocking is performed by a movable plate, which is pressed against the frame by the sash.

So, to unlock you need to press the plate.

We insert the hexagon into the head of the eccentric and turn it in the right direction (each brand has its own direction).

Pressing the blocker, we return the sash to its place.

Helpful advice!

On the overall doors, from the side of the hinges, as a rule, a hidden clamp is also installed.

It is also regulated (usually with a hexagon) according to the “winter-summer” type.

During rotation, it extends - the pressure plate retracts, thereby changing the clamping force.

If an unregulated one is installed, and you are convinced that it does not work, you need to change it.

Depending on the brand of fittings, this is done either with a hexagon or with pliers. On some trunnions, the eccentric is made in the form of a ring, which must be pulled away from the sash with your fingers and rotated to the desired angle.

There are brands of fittings in which the clamps are commanded by otvetki, I think you can decide. In general, adjusting plastic windows is a very creative process! Especially the first time.

After all the necessary screws have been scrolled, we check the clamp.

This is done as follows: tear off a strip of a palm-width and two palms long from the newspaper, and clamp it between the sash and the frame, where there are no answers. If the strip is easily pulled out - add a clamp.

So check several points from all sides.

Yes, I missed one point. It happens after lifting or tilting the sash, the trunnions begin to cling to the answers or vice versa do not reach them. In this case, the answers must be shifted in the right direction.

We unscrew the self-tapping screw that secures the answer on the frame and, without removing the answer itself, by lightly tapping with pliers on the answer along the frame, we shift it in the right direction. We twist the self-tapping screw.

And now - the most dangerous type of adjustment of plastic windows. This is an adjustment of the double-glazed window. There is a situation when the sash is raised all the way, and its lower part, from the side of the handle, clings to the frame.

That is, the sag is greater than the power reserve of the adjusting stop in the lower loop. I will say right away that under normal conditions such a case practically does not occur, which means that one of the three points was violated:

  1. Correct assembly.
  2. Correct installation.
  3. Proper operation.

Or maybe all three! But, as they say, "it's too late to drink Borjomi" - we will treat. Another case - the "turning" sash sagged. In order to save money, such sashes are often equipped with NON-ADJUSTABLE fittings.

That is, the usual loops and constipation. Here, adjustment is possible ONLY with double-glazed windows.

So let's get started: using the screw in the bottom hinge, lower the sash as far down as possible.

Carefully remove the glazing beads with a spatula (the sash is closed !!!), holding the double-glazed window (it is better to work together).

We mark the glazing beads “lion”, “right”, “top” and take out the double-glazed window itself. Gently put it on something soft (rug, rug) against the wall, laying several newspapers from the wall, for example.

Then we open the sash and in the very corner from the side of the handle we put gaskets on the frame, so that the sash rises by 5-7 mm when closing. We close the sash, as if pushing (lifting) it onto the gaskets.

If we notice that at the moment of closing the entire sash rises, and not just the desired edge, then in the area of \u200b\u200bthe scissors, on the sash, we insert another one without letting the sash up.

Thus, in the place where the sash was mashed, a gap (reserve) of the order of 5 mm was obtained.

We insert a double-glazed window and fix it tightly on all sides with gaskets, according to technology, helping ourselves with a spatula. Gaskets should be inserted very tightly, but carefully - glass is glass.

We hammer the glazing beads with a rubber mallet, starting with short ones.

We check the operation of the sash by removing the lining from the box. If necessary, we correct the adjustments, achieving normal operation.

All this can be avoided by installing a "microlift" on the sash.

In some types of fittings, a blocker can be adapted to the role of a lift. But only those that have a fairly powerful blocker are suitable.

This is done as follows: the blocker response is installed in such a way that when the sash is closed, the blocker does not just press against the rubber, but, as it were, runs into the response, raising the sash by 2-3 mm.

But you need to verify it very accurately so as not to break the lock. By the way, if you install a microlift on an unregulated sash, you will not need to open it.

It was the adjustment of plastic WINDOWS, but we also have doors ...

We remove the old rubber.

We clean the groove from the remnants of glue and sealant. Now we need to determine what kind of rubber we had.

Leading profile manufacturers mainly use four types of rubber:

  • Rehau
  • KBE 228

We determine which one we have. If the seal is not similar to any of these types, we take any with a similar leg size.

If you have a choice, it is better to take German - the service life is almost twice as long.

We insert a new rubber, starting from the top of the window (door).

Try not to stretch the rubber, but rather to pick it up. Be especially careful when inserting the seal in the corners.

Then fill the tail end-to-end with the other end of the seal, smearing the ends with glue.

It will not be superfluous to help one more person here.

Turn the handle to the "open" position, but do not open the sash.

Remove the decorative trim from the top loop.

With a flat screwdriver (knife, chisel, etc.), we pull out the pin of the upper loop, you can not completely, but only to disconnect the loop parts.

We slightly tilt the sash towards ourselves and, lifting it up, remove it from the lower hinge.

We take out the upper loop (scissors) from the groove to make it more convenient to work.

We change the seal, as on the frame.

We assemble the mechanism and put the sash in place. We drive the pin of the upper loop and put on the decor.

We close the sash and check the work, if necessary, adjust the adjustments.

Now manufacturers are offered profiles with already glued rubber. When a window (door) is assembled from such a profile, the rubber in the corners, when welded, is fused.

If in the middle of the profile it is difficult to remove the rubber, but it is possible, then it cannot be pulled out in the corners.

We do so. We tear out all the rubber that lends itself, helping ourselves with a screwdriver or something else.

In the corners we mill a groove for rubber with a f-4 mm drill or a vertical cutter of the same diameter.

We clean the place of milling with a knife or chisel.

Insert new tires.

Detailed instructions for adjusting plastic windows

At present, the popularity of plastic windows is no longer in doubt, because they are not only of high quality, but also of affordable cost. And that's not to mention the fact that they are easy to use and perfectly protect against noise.

But, despite this, even the highest quality windows require maintenance, so from time to time it is necessary to call the master to adjust them. Many people ask themselves: “Is it possible to adjust plastic windows without calling a wizard?”.

It's actually not as difficult as it might seem. Therefore, after reading this article, you yourself will be able to deal with minor problems. Remember that in this way you save not only money, but also time.

And now let's move on to the instructions themselves and consider the main problems.

What are the most common problems that you can fix yourself?

Most often, you can encounter the following types of malfunctions, which you can easily fix on your own:

  • When closing, the sash touches the frame from the side or from below
  • The sash is not tight enough to the frame
  • Striker plate wear
  • The handle is blocked when the sash is open in the “closed” mode, the window does not close
  • The sash is closed, but the window does not close, the handle does not turn
  • Handle broke

Note!

After reading this article, you will be able to deal with minor problems yourself.

For repairs, we may need the following tool:

  • Pliers
  • Hexagon (4 mm)
  • Screwdrivers (Phillips and flat)
  • A set of "stars"

Briefly about the general principles of adjusting window sashes

The sashes of almost all modern PVC windows can be adjusted in three planes, thanks to which it is possible to achieve the correct position of the sashes in the frame and to achieve the optimal degree of pressing of the seals around the entire perimeter of the sash.

The ways of adjusting the sash fittings, the appearance of its individual elements and the tool used for adjustment may vary depending on the manufacturer, but in general the general adjustment scheme looks like the one shown in the figures below.

Now let's look at what needs to be done in order to fix the problem in each of the above cases.

When closing, the sash touches the frame from below

In this case, you need to move the sash in the direction of the upper hinge and up. The procedure for this is approximately the following:

  1. We open the sash.
  2. We turn the adjusting screw located near the upper hinge at the end of the sash with a hexagon clockwise by several turns.
  3. We close the sash.
  4. Remove the cap from the bottom loop.
  5. We insert a hexagon into it and make several turns clockwise.
  6. We check the free play of the sash, if necessary, we carry out adjustment until we fix the malfunction.

The sash touches the side of the frame when closing

In this case, you need to move the sash in the direction of the hinges, for this:

If the side of the sash only touches the frame from below, then it will be enough to move the sash towards the lower hinge. This is easily done with the adjustment screw located under the bottom hinge.

In the event that the side of the sash touches the frame along its entire height, it will also be necessary to move the sash in the direction of the upper hinge.

Striker plate wear

To check the strikers, open a window and inspect them. Most often, there is one bar on each side around the perimeter of the window. If wear is noticeable on one of them, this may indicate that there is an uneven fit of the window in the frame.

In order to solve the problem, you need to open the window, remove the plastic plugs from the adjusting bolts (they are on the lower and upper hinges, on the same side as the sash) and loosen the bolts themselves using a hex wrench (four mm).

After that, adjust the position of the top half of the window. The adjusting screw will help you with this. First you need to adjust everything relative to the frame "left - right", and then go to the bottom screw and start adjusting the movement "up and down".

It is very easy to monitor the accuracy of the adjustment. To do this, you just need to open and close the window until you understand that the sash fits snugly and evenly into the frame.

The sash is not tight enough to the frame

From the side of the handle on the lateral end of the sash there is a system of eccentrics, with the help of which the pressure density against the sash frame is regulated.

They may have a different appearance depending on the manufacturer, but the principle of operation is the same in all cases.

By rotating the eccentrics with pliers or a hexagon, you can adjust the required degree of pressing the sash to the frame.

If you need to adjust the degree of pressing the window sash to the frame from the side of the hinges, this can be done using the adjusting screw located on the lower hinge.

If this sash is a tilt-and-turn sash, then you can additionally adjust the sash pressure using the top hinge.

To get to the adjusting bolt located on the scissors near the upper hinge, you need to open the sash and then, after pressing the lock first, set the handle to the ventilation mode.

If you need to press the sash against the frame, then you need to turn the bolt clockwise, respectively, you can loosen the clamp by turning the bolt counterclockwise.

Some types of fittings are regulated exclusively with the help of the answers located on the side of the handle. The position of the strikers is adjustable with a hexagon.

Helpful advice!

To increase the pressure of the window sash to the frame, you need to move the bar towards the street.

On the hinge side of the frame there are also clamping mechanisms adjustable with a hexagon. The more you pull out the tongue, the more the sash will be pressed against the frame.

The handle is blocked when the sash is open in the “closed” mode, the window does not close

The handle can only be turned when the sash is closed in order to prevent breakage of the hardware mechanisms. To prevent accidental turning of the handle when the sash is open, special locks are provided located under the handle at the end of the sash.

Depending on the manufacturer, they also come in various types. Before unlocking the handle, you need to press the lock.

The sash is closed, but the window does not close because the handle does not turn

If, after closing the sash, the handle does not turn, this means that the engagement of the blocker with the mating element located on the frame does not work.

This problem can be solved in two ways:

  1. Using the adjusting screw located under the lower hinge, move the sash slightly in the direction of the mating part of the blocker
  2. Slightly loosening the mount, insert any thin plate of hard material between the counterpart of the blocker and the frame

It happens, it also happens that the plastic window does not close at all (for example, if the window opens in two positions at once). How to be in such a case? Read my article "The plastic window does not close - what should I do?"

Handle broke

In order to replace the plastic window handle, you need to slightly pull the handle cover towards you and turn it 90 degrees.

This usually happens due to insufficient lubrication. To prevent such a situation, it is necessary to lubricate the hardware mechanisms at least once a year. For these purposes, you can use aerosol lubricants or machine oil.

It is worth noting that the control of the technical condition and the lubrication of all mechanisms of window fittings must be carried out even in the absence of visible defects at least once a year.

If you are interested in adjusting plastic windows, it is useful to remember that:

  • it is necessary to periodically check the condition of the rubber seals in order to prevent their wear;
  • if you remove decorative plastic caps, do it carefully, as they are very fragile; make sure not to deform or crush them during the main work;
  • if your frame or the window opening itself is deformed, then you will not be able to adjust the windows yourself;
  • if you are not sure that you can do everything yourself, it is better to entrust the work to a trusted specialist. So you can be sure that everything is done with high quality and nothing needs to be redone.

I suggest watching a video that clearly shows how to adjust the plastic window with your own hands.

Plastic windows have long ceased to be an indicator of luxury. Today, modern windows are considered a kind of indicator of the level of comfort at which your home remains protected not only from the cold, but also from noise. But for this you need to follow a few rules in maintenance and care.

And if for the high-quality and proper installation of a double-glazed window it is necessary to seek help from specialists, then all the rest of the work on periodic maintenance can be carried out independently. And for this it is not necessary to have special knowledge and skills. It is enough just to understand the design features and be able to handle tools.

Peculiarities

A feature of the design of plastic windows is the ability to adjust the mechanism during maintenance. And this procedure may be required for any window, regardless of the service life and quality of the fittings. It is important to periodically check the operation of the opening and closing mechanisms. And also, when the season changes, inspect the condition of the fittings - the durability and functionality of the windows depend on this, which is more likely to save you from large-scale repairs in the future.

And being able to do all the work yourself is a useful skill. In fact, it is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

Plastic windows have many advantages:

  • optimal level of sound insulation - modern double-glazed windows protect the living space from extraneous sounds from the street;
  • retains heat - the plastic frame retains up to 20% of the heat in the room;
  • excellent tightness - which allows you to protect the room from drafts, and there is no need to additionally insulate the frames before the onset of cold weather;
  • plastic is not deformed at constant humidity and temperature changes;

  • fire safety - the plastic from which modern windows are made does not support combustion;
  • attractive appearance and many modifications - the customer has the opportunity to choose any size, color and style of the window frame;
  • unpretentiousness in cleaning - to maintain cleanliness, it is necessary to periodically wipe the surface of the frame with a damp cloth;
  • retains its original appearance for a long time - the surface does not fade in the sun, does not change color and does not require periodic painting;
  • versatility - a modern plastic window also protects from insects and bright sunlight.

However, it is worth noting some disadvantages of plastic windows:

  • non-compliance with the installation technology can reduce the life of the window;
  • unlike natural wood, plastic is not able to maintain the optimal level of humidity and temperature in the room;
  • moving structural elements require proper care;
  • for a long period of operation, replacement of fittings and insulation is required.

During operation, many problems can be encountered. The window can cling to the fittings, allow air to pass through and cause drafts in the room. And most often, to fix the problem, you only need to tighten the mounting screws and oil the fittings. And in order to determine the cause of the malfunction, it is necessary to roughly understand the design features.

The plastic window consists of standard details.

  • plastic frame- inside which the reinforcing reinforcement is hidden. The entire structure must withstand enormous loads, so the frame undergoes quality tests during the production process. Self-tapping screws are used to securely fix the steel profile.
  • sashes– the hermetic design of the wings also has a steel profile. All moving elements are made of reliable materials, which guarantees the normal closing and opening of the window.

  • Double-glazed windows- depending on the requirements, manufacturers offer windows with one, two, three or more double-glazed windows: an air chamber is formed between two glasses with a special gaseous substance, which is necessary to create excellent thermal characteristics.
  • accessories- these are all devices and parts located in the sash and frame, which are necessary for fixing double-glazed windows, handles and controlling the sashes.
  • sealant- necessary for hermetic closing of the window. Insulation and sealing elements protect the room from moisture and cold air from the street. Over time, the quality of the seal may deteriorate due to natural wear and mechanical deformation.

  • Glazing beads- these are plastic parts that are necessary to hold the glass in the frame.
  • Impost- necessary to strengthen the structure if the window frame has more than one structural element. This element is fixed in the window opening and divides it into several parts. But recently, manufacturers have improved window frames and can offer customers large windows without additional fixing profiles.

Modern plastic windows differ in quality, number of double-glazed windows, strength, different modes and price. And each category needs proper care.

Modes

Modern manufacturers offer PVC windows with two sash opening modes: plowing and ventilation. The opening angle of the flap can also be adjusted using the built-in limiters. A common problem with windows with multiple modes is the simultaneous opening of the sash and opening the micro-ventilation mode.

It can occur when the open sash is switched to the ventilation mode by turning the handle up. In this case, the sash is fixed only on one lower hinge, and the upper part sags and falls under its own weight.

This problem must be solved as soon as possible, otherwise the lower loop may not withstand the load and break. To do this, press on the upper part of the sash and try to firmly press the window to the frame. In this case, the handle must be turned up to the ventilation mode. Then, after the sash is completely closed in the frame, the handle is lowered to the plowing mode. If necessary, you can independently adjust the blocker on the sash. After that, the window closes.

But also manufacturers of plastic windows offer sliding designs. Such sashes are best suited for installation on a balcony. The main advantage of sliding windows is to save space, the windows do not open by turning, but by shifting parallel to the frame. In this case, the window sill area can be used more efficiently.

Such windows do not require special care and will last the same as their classic counterparts, from 10 years. They keep the heat in the room and do not let street noise into the apartment. Another plus of these designs is the ability to move the mosquito net, like the frames themselves: the net can move parallel to the frame to the right and left.

And also in addition, you can install special valves on the window for air flow or protection for children. In this case, you can be sure that the child will not accidentally open the window.

Required Tools

Adjusting a plastic window at home is a simple task. In this case, it is important to have elementary skills in using tools. Before work, you should prepare the necessary set. The choice of tools largely depends on the internal mechanism of the window.

To adjust the plastic window you will need:

  • pliers or pliers;
  • hex wrench No. 4;
  • flat and figured Phillips screwdrivers;
  • a set of keys "asterisks";
  • scissors for sealant;
  • putty knife;
  • machine oil, silicone grease, or WD-40 spray.

In some cases it is necessary to use different tools. For example, to turn oval-shaped eccentrics, it is better to use pliers, and for adjusting screws with an internal slot, a hex wrench or screwdriver is better. While only a Phillips screwdriver is used to replace the handle.

A spatula is only needed if the straightening plate is defective. But if the warranty is still in force, you should contact the manufacturer to fix the problem.

Although you can install straightening plates with your own hands. The main thing is that the double-glazed window does not rest against the plate, otherwise the glass may not withstand the pressure and crack.

How to adjust yourself?

Many simply do not know or forget that plastic windows require periodic maintenance. Adjustment and adjustment of double-glazed windows may be necessary if a low-quality installation was carried out. Just like natural wear and tear, it can take several years to show itself even after a quality installation. And even an experienced craftsman may have questions when adjusting the window.

You can read the detailed instructions for fixing the main problems that you fix yourself.

  • Friction is felt when opening or closing the window, or the sash touches the frame - in this case, the reason may be the loosening of the hinges. This problem can occur when the building shrinks or the fittings loosen. To eliminate the malfunction, it is necessary to adjust the upper and lower hinges horizontally. For this job you will need a hexagon. Insert the key into the upper window hinge and turn clockwise to adjust the height distance from the sash to the window frame. At the same time, the lower part of the opposite element will drop noticeably. To adjust the bottom hinge, you will also need a hexagon, but you need to do the same work from the outside. Shifts average 2 mm.

  • Drafts and blowing windows- cold air enters the apartment through the frame insulation. During operation, the window may lose its tightness due to wear of the rubber seal. Manufacturers provide a guarantee for a quality seal for about 15 years. If you neglect the control of the technical condition, the seal may wear out. To replace it, carefully remove the unusable seal from the grooves and secure a new one.

  • Handle is hard to turn- the problem may be a malfunction of the mechanism or a lack of lubrication. In this case, to begin with, it is worth treating the mechanism with engine oil. To do this, turn the handle at a right angle, unscrew the screws and remove the plastic trim. Under the rectangular plate are bolts that are tightened with a screwdriver. If the mechanism intermittently sticks, or the handle is difficult to turn, lubricate all elements of the rotary mechanism. If there are visible defects, and also if the problem has not been eliminated after processing the fittings with grease, replace the handle with a new one and check the technical condition once a year.

  • If the handle is jammed in ventilation mode- most often the reason lies in the jamming of a mechanism called "scissors" in the upper corner. You can deal with the problem only after removing the sash from the hinges. To do this, carefully remove the decorative caps and unscrew the screws. After that, inspect the ventilation locking mechanism, find and try to adjust the elements that have flown down. Replace all the elements and check the operation of the "scissors". They should be adjacent to the top loop. After that, install the sash in place in the window opening.
  • Swing-out problems removed quite easily. If the window opened in two modes at once, it is necessary to quickly return the sash to its place with a slight pressure, and lower the handle down for the closed mode.

  • Most problems can usually be dealt with after adjusting the top and bottom window hinges.. To check the pressure of the sash to the frame, you can bring a lit candle to the window: if the fire goes out, then you need to adjust the sash. In this case, it is necessary to check the trunnions - these are small round-shaped parts that are on the sash and regulate the pressure. To make the contact between the sash and the frame tighter, it is necessary to turn the mechanisms clockwise, and to loosen the pressure, turn counterclockwise. This adjustment should be carried out twice a year at the change of season. In winter, the window should be hermetically sealed so that cold street air does not enter the apartment. And in the summer heat, on the contrary, the pressure should be minimal so that fresh air can enter the room even with the window closed.

In the first year of operation of the window, the adjustment should be minimal. At the same time, it is important to remember that with a free clamp, the window will last longer than with the most dense one.

What if it doesn't close?

Quite often there is a problem when the sash stops closing. And this is not surprising, especially if the window was installed 5-6 years ago. In such cases, minor repairs are required. Luckily, you can do this job yourself. But first you need to understand the cause of the malfunction.

The window may stop closing for several reasons:

  • manufacturing defect of the design;
  • low-quality fittings;
  • neglect of installation rules during installation;
  • skewed sash;

  • the seal needs to be replaced.
  • malfunction of the opening and closing mechanism;
  • debris, dirt or dust.

If it is not possible to close the sash tightly, first you should make sure that no elements prevent this. Another problem may be the skew of the sash. In this case, the window will cling to the corner of the frame, and as a result of the skew, a gap appears. If one of the sash corners sags, the hinge bolts must be adjusted. To do this, you need to adjust the angle of inclination of the sash vertically and horizontally.

And if you can’t turn the handle, then perhaps the problem lies in the blocker located on the side at the bottom of the sash. Adjust the position of the blocker yourself, and try turning the handle. After these manipulations, the problem should be eliminated.

Hardware replacement

On the end of the sash there are a large number of different elements. Fittings play almost the main role as a window and are responsible for trouble-free operation throughout the entire service life. And the life of the window depends on the quality of the fittings.

Window fittings are divided into three types.

  • budgetary- often used by developers in new buildings. Such accessories are offered by domestic manufacturers, and, as a rule, they are limited in functionality. For example, windows with budget fittings are not transferred to various seasonal modes and do not have the function of opening for micro-ventilation.

  • Standard- produced by both domestic and foreign companies.
  • Specialized- used by various manufacturers for windows installed in crowded places: airports, shopping centers, office buildings.

All types of accessories differ from each other in quality, design complexity and reliability. When working with the replacement and adjustment of fittings, you must be careful. Any small breakdown can cost the owner of the apartment dearly in the future.

The following tips and tricks will help fix plastic window problems without the help of specialists. But the main thing at the same time is to carry out all work without pressure and effort, otherwise there is a possibility of larger breakdowns. Check out what else you need to know for self-adjusting a plastic window.

  • In some cases, it may be necessary to adjust the window frame vertically. To do this, remove the decorative plastic cap from the bottom hinge and adjust the position of the frame using a hexagon. Clockwise circular movements will raise the sash, and counterclockwise will lower it.

  • Once every 5 years, it is necessary to clean the fittings in hard-to-reach places from accumulated dust and dirt. This process can not be called laborious, but it will be much easier to do this work together. To do this, you will need to remove the sash from both hinges and remove the overhead elements. All parts must be cleaned and lubricated with oil. After complete drying, the fittings are installed in their places, and the structure is assembled in the same sequence.
  • It is not recommended to wash windows with abrasive cleaners and solutions. To clean the surface, it is best to use a soft cloth and a special cleaner for plastic windows.

  • Monitor the quality of the rubber seal - it must be replaced periodically. It should not have cracks or cuts. To make the seal last longer, periodically inspect the window and lubricate the rubber with silicone grease. In the absence of proper care, the seal will become unusable after 5-6 years of operation.
  • If the window is used for a long time, it may be necessary to replace the seal. This need is not always associated with poor rubber quality or improper maintenance; there is also such a thing as physical wear and tear. Cope with the replacement of the seal, perhaps, even an ordinary man in the street can. In the hardware store, you need to purchase a new rubber seal, and carefully remove the old one from the surface of the sash. All work is best to start from the bottom or top corner. After that, the surface and existing open grooves are thoroughly cleaned. Check in advance that the amount of new rubber is exactly enough for the entire window, the seal must not be stretched.

When drafts occur, or when the season changes, residents of modern apartments begin to wonder - how to adjust the plastic window?

For these purposes, it is not at all necessary to call a master, because adjusting plastic windows with your own hands is a simple matter, and you won’t have to spend money on it, if you have the necessary tools.

Plastic windows are designed in such a way that they do not have vents. To ventilate the room, the sash must be moved to a certain position.

In winter, the gap between the frame and the sash may seem too large, because a large amount of frosty air passes into the room.

This problem can be eliminated by adjusting the hinges of the rotary locking mechanism.

This video demonstrates this process:

First, the window must be opened in the ventilation mode, and then press the upper hinge. With the onset of spring, the clamp should be returned to its previous state.

It happens that air passes through the cracks of a closed window.

To determine the place where the draft passes, it is worth bringing a lit match to a closed window.

Where the flame will fluctuate, it is necessary to carry out adjustment, while adjusting those hinges, next to which a draft was detected, must be adjusted.

There are two ways to fix this problem.

The first is the adjustment of the eccentrics:

  • they need to be moved clockwise;
  • to rotate the eccentrics, you can use tools: a wrench, pliers;
  • the eccentric should not be turned over a long distance, 1-2 mm is enough;
  • if necessary, the sash can be loosened by turning the eccentric against the clock.

The process of adjusting the eccentrics

The second way is to eliminate the draft by adjusting the special clamping mechanism of plastic windows.

It must be adjusted by turning the key clockwise. The tongue extends, and the sash fits more tightly to the frame.

Adjustment of the "winter-summer" mode

Adjustment of plastic windows in the "winter-summer" mode is easily carried out without the help of a master. To do this, the position of the pins changes, weakening or strengthening the pressure of the sash against the window frame.

What does a trunnion look like?

For convenience, you can watch the training video:

Factories manufacturing plastic window structures provide for the middle position of the trunnion.

The sash is not pressed very tightly, but it does not let air from the street into the room when closed.

Switching the window to the "winter" state

In winter, the maximum pressing of the sash to the frame is necessary. Changing the position of the eccentric will increase the load on the seal. The trunnion is pulled slightly towards itself, moves to the right.

The difference between winter and summer

The distance from the fittings to the roller should be minimal. The correctness of installation can be checked by the notch on the roller - it should be directed towards the seal.

It is worth considering that windows that have been installed recently are not recommended to be transferred to the "winter" position.

Changes to the turn-lock mechanism during the winter deform the sealing material. In the spring, he may not recover.

Transition to the "summer" state

By the middle of spring, comfortable weather sets in, the PVC window should be transferred to the summer position. To do this, the trunnion is pulled and moved to the left. The notch will help to translate the video correctly.

After moving the trunnion, it should face the window handle.

Types of trunnion positions

After adjusting the trunnion, the load on the sealing material is reduced, as a result, the air flow from the street increases.

Troubleshooting Plastic Window Handles

When it becomes necessary to replace the window handle with a new one, install a limiter, fix a loose handle - it is not at all necessary to contact a specialist, because you can carry out repairs yourself very quickly.

Handle replacement

Not always the handle is changed due to its breakdown. Small children can open the sash on their own. For safety reasons, it is recommended to install a handle with a built-in limiter.

To replace the handle, turn it in the opposite direction. The screws that are under it are unscrewed, the old handle is removed and a new one is installed.

Handle replacement process

When unscrewing the screws, you can use a screwdriver.

What to do if the handle is stuck?

It happens that when the window handle is turned sharply down, it jams. This situation is not broken. The handle has been locked to prevent window breakage.

Sometimes blocking occurs unexpectedly, but there is no need to call the master. You can easily repair the handle yourself and return it to its original position.

Before taking any action, you need to determine what brand the fittings have. It is indicated on the constipation of the product.

On the fittings, which has the inscription "AUBI", it is worth finding a metal plate with a spring. The plate must be pressed against the sealing material and the handle must be turned.

It is important to maintain the vertical position of the sash. Deviation at any angle will prevent the handle from turning, as the upper lock will work.

After bringing the window to a vertical position, the handle will easily turn and it will be possible to close the sash.

Video instruction:

If the hardware brand is “Roto”, “GU”, or something else, then it is recommended to find a tongue made of metal, it is located below the handle. You need to press on it, as a result of which it will be installed parallel to the seal.

The handle will turn to the desired position without effort.

Turn blocker

If over time the window is deformed as a result of the temperature regime, then the tongue may not reach the mating element. As a result, the handle will not turn.

Using a screwdriver, you need to unscrew the screws of the counter element, put any material (a piece of plastic, a screw) between the frame and the blocker.

The clutch of the "response" with the blocker will increase - the handle will immediately turn.

The handle is hard to turn

Dried grease may be the cause of difficult turning of the knob. In any specialized store, you must purchase a penetrating lubricant.

Fittings lubrication point

A tube is installed on the bottle with the agent, and all fittings are lubricated. After such simple operations, the handle will turn easily.

Adjusting the window horizontally and vertically

The deterioration of the fittings may be due to the skew of the sash in relation to the frame.

Adjustment of plastic windows vertically, horizontally is carried out independently.

How to adjust horizontally?

Window mechanisms may not function well as the window has sunk in height and will not close. It is possible to adjust the window horizontally on the window hinges.

On the upper loop, you need to find holes where a special device is inserted - a hex key.

As a result of such actions, the sash will move away from the hinge, and the lower part will lower. The grease fittings must not be dry.

When the window is closed, you can also adjust the canopy from below. In this case, all actions must be performed outside the window. It is allowed to move the sash no more than 1-2 mm.

Instructions on how to perform such actions are contained in the video tutorials.

How is vertical adjustment made?

You can adjust the window vertically by adjusting the hinged hinge, which is located at the bottom. First you need to open the hinge cap.

Rotate clockwise with a hexagon wrench if the sash needs to be raised. Movement against the clock hand will lower the frame.

A frame shift of no more than 1-2 mm is allowed.

How to adjust plastic doors?

Plastic doors are as popular as PVC windows. But during operation they need to be repaired. The instructions presented in the video tutorials will help to cope with all the difficulties.

Horizontal door adjustment

If the door leaf clings to the threshold or at the top of the door frame, then it's time to adjust it horizontally.

To do this, the door is pressed against the hinge part and the longest adjusting bolt is tightened.

The door must be moved until the leaf is horizontal with respect to the floor and the top of the door frame. The hinge lubricant must be fresh.

Vertical door adjustment

If it clings to the floor along the entire length of the canvas, most likely the door has dropped and needs to be raised. Such a defect occurs due to incorrect installation or as a result of temperature influence.

Tutorial video:

You need to find a screw that is located vertically on the bottom end of the fittings. To raise the door, the screw needs to be slightly tightened.

How to change pressure density?

To increase the tightness of the door pressure on the hinge side, it is necessary to adjust the third hinge screw.

The door clamp on the handle side in some product models is adjusted by turning the eccentrics.

They are located above, below, in the middle.

If there are none, then the doors are repaired by turning the trunnion. By the notch, you can judge whether the turns are carried out correctly or not. Lubrication must be present on all mechanisms.

In our article you will find recommendations for ordinary window users, it contains the most elementary tricks on how to adjust plastic or metal-plastic windows in Kyiv, which are carried out in accordance with the principle of "do no harm". Those with more advanced technical knowledge will find plenty of helpful but more complex advice online.

You can make an attempt to adjust the windows yourself if the window does not close well or vice versa, it blows a little from under the seal, and all these phenomena began to be observed some time after the window was installed.

In the event that when opening the window you hear extraneous sounds (clicks or crackling), the handle began to rotate too tightly, if a difference in the height of adjacent sashes of more than 2-3 mm began to be observed, if after the warranty adjustment it still blows strongly into the windows , or if the window began to close poorly immediately after installation, then most likely you need to take urgent measures - lubricate the fittings, or even better - call an experienced window repairman.

It should be noted that the statement that the sashes need summer and winter adjustment has no basis - modern plastic windows will not require seasonal adjustment of the pressure of the sashes to the frames.

Let's look at how you can independently install a sagging sash in place. First, inspect the lower loop, we find the adjusting screw. It can be located under the decorative trim inside the hinge. To work, you will need a 4 mm hexagon, or a special key if AUBI fittings are installed in the windows. The handle should be moved to the "open" position.

In the first case, we insert the hexagon and, turning it clockwise, carefully raise the sash. It will be a little more difficult to deal with the AUBI nut. If you do not find the right key, you will have to look for a traffic controller. However, home masters always find some tricky way out ...

Left or Right

To move the sash to the right or left, use the adjusting screws in the upper and lower hinges. From the tools you will need the same hexagon or "asterisk" T15-20.

clamp

When assembling plastic windows, today it is customary to use two types of fittings, which differ in the principle of pressure adjustment. Roto Centro 100-101 fittings have adjustable strikers on the frame. In other types of fittings, the adjustment is made by turning the pins on the sash. You can do the work with an open-end wrench, "Asterisk" or the same hexagon, depending on the year of manufacture of the hardware and its manufacturer.

To strengthen the pressure of the sash against the frame, it is necessary to turn the pin so that the convex side turns towards the seal. As a rule, there is a marking in the form of a dash or a dot. In Roto Centro, the desired inclination of the keep is given (on the side where traces of contact with the sash pin are visible).

Adjusting the pressure of the plastic window sash

Also, a positive result can be obtained by increasing the pressure of the adjusting screw in the area of the lower and upper hinges.

That's all the recommendations on how to adjust a plastic window, I hope you use them and forget about drafts and ice.
