Mobile air conditioners pros and cons. Mobile air conditioners: pros and cons of choice. Room air conditioner or split system

Modern climatic devices for houses and offices without an air duct occupy a special place. Their distinguishing feature is that they are easy to manage and install, they can be moved around the apartment or transported to other places.

Mobile air conditioners without air duct. Principle of operation

The system is designed to create cold without generating heat, which makes a separate duct simply unnecessary. The design features of the device are simplified due to the absence of condensate.

Equipment Advantages

Mobile air conditioners without an air duct have a number of advantages. User reviews about them emphasize their following properties:

There is no condensate drain hose, various pipes and air duct;

Mobility that allows you to change the position of the device quickly and easily;

Simplified installation and maintenance without the intervention of specialists;

Cooling operation consumes little electricity - 70 or 150 W, depending on the mode;

Outdoor mobile air conditioners without an air duct are reliable due to their simple design;

Light weight of the device - from 6 to 12 kg;

Moves with the help of wheels at the base;

Low cost compared to split systems.

Disadvantages of mobile devices of this type

Also, mobile air conditioners without an air duct have their negative points. Reviews of many people point to such weaknesses as:

Ability to use in small rooms - up to 25-30 m 2;

Greater noise level than in split systems;

It must be regularly filled with water;

The system has inertia - it takes a long time to feel cold;

Moisture that evaporates during operation is collected in the room, and therefore ventilation should be done.

It must be remembered that mobile air conditioners for a home without an air duct cannot be used in the following rooms:

In closed rooms without windows and the possibility of ventilation;

In rooms with high humidity;

In the cellars.

Working mechanism

How do mobile air conditioners function without an air duct? The principle of operation is that cold water of a certain amount is poured into a special container located inside the device. In cooling mode, the liquid entering through the pump impregnates the porous filter, and home air is driven through it with the help of a fan. Heat is taken from it and together with water it evaporates to the outside. Thus, the output is cooled air. The remaining liquid that has not evaporated is collected in a special tray.

The efficiency of the air conditioner directly depends on the temperature of the liquid. The cooler the water, the better the effect. When choosing a mobile air conditioner without an air duct, models with ice compartments can also be considered.

The main feature of such units is that they do not have the function of setting the maintained temperature, like conventional air conditioners. The system here is much simpler: the hotter the room and the colder the liquid, the more efficient the work will be. According to technical data, the difference in temperature is 7-8 degrees.

Mobile air conditioner without air duct: price and selection rules

In order not to make mistakes when buying a device, you should correctly approach the choice of a device and pay attention first of all to its main characteristics. First, the buyer must decide for himself whether he needs to quickly cool the room or not. If you need to lower the room temperature by 5-7 degrees in a few minutes, then it is better to purchase a compressor unit.

A mobile air conditioner without an air duct, the price of which is 13-30 thousand rubles, depending on the power, additional functions and the manufacturer, is designed to maintain a microclimate in small rooms with a temperature of 23-25 0 C.

The main positions that are taken into account when choosing a device:

1. The performance of the air conditioner and the area of the porous filter should be suitable for the area of the room in which they are going to maintain the microclimate.

2. The water tank must be insulated so that the air can cool quickly. On some models equipped with an ice container, the water passes through this reservoir before reaching the filter.

3. It is very good to choose multifunctional mobile air conditioners without air duct. Reviews of people who had to use such units advise just such models. They are equipped with a remote control, a timer, an air ionizer and a fine filter. The function of filling the air space with silver ions is especially useful, which has a beneficial effect on the climate in the house, the health of children and people suffering from respiratory diseases.

4. In order to be comfortable at home, you should choose an air conditioner with a reduced noise level: inside the unit - 25-48 dB, outside - 36-56 dB. These figures may vary depending on the performance mode. At the minimum and maximum modes, these data will differ.

5. It is better to purchase popular and time-tested models of air conditioners.

Popular Russian model of the device

Kibor mobile air conditioners without duct are good examples of quality devices. Models 16, 24 and 32 are on sale. The number indicates the maximum cooling area.

The device has the following properties:

Cools the air;

Ionizes the space of the room;

Purifies to the likeness of mountain air.

The device has a stylish design. Its height is 82 cm, width - 40 cm, depth - 28 cm.

This model has additional features:

Three operating modes;

Automatically closes the shutters on the front panel when not in use to protect the internal electronics from dust;

Has a low noise threshold;

Minimum electricity consumption (65 W);

Water tank volume - 8 liters;

Built-in water sensor and remote control.

Other notable models

There are other popular devices of this type. For example, a Samsung APH289SE mobile air conditioner without an air duct, whose power consumption is 1300 W. The volume of the water tank is 15 liters. This powerful device has all the features of the Kibor model, but in addition it has a special ice container.

Also on the market of cooling devices, a mobile air conditioner without an Electrolux ECO series air duct is known, which is able to cool, ventilate and dehumidify the air in the room. To the main functions of such air conditioners, an auxiliary drainage system has been added to the design, which is necessary with high humidity in the room. The power of this device is 1100 watts. Sold with a remote control built into the body of the device.

Samsung and Electrolux models are additionally equipped with a corrugated air duct that can be removed. The advantage of these devices is that they not only have an ultra-modern design, a wide range of functions and technological solutions, but they can operate as simple mobile air conditioners with or without hot air exhaust to the street.

To install mobile air conditioners without a Kibor air duct or another company, special knowledge and skills are not required. All it takes is:

1. Carefully study the instructions.

2. Decide on the installation location of the device.

3. Fill the container with chilled water.

4. Set the required operating mode.

Some features of use

The fluid in the tank should be constantly topped up. About the lack of water, an audible or visual signal will be received from a special sensor. The frequency of such a procedure depends on the material of the finish, the area of \u200b\u200bthe room, the level of humidity, temperature and other features. For example, in one room, water is added once a day, and in another - once every few days.

So that this type of air conditioner does not bring disappointment, it is better to follow the tips on using the equipment given by experts.

It is necessary to know that the climatic device has the maximum effect at an ambient temperature of more than 25 degrees Celsius. During the operation of the air conditioner, a window, a window should be opened or periodic ventilation should be organized. This type of equipment works best in office premises with supply and exhaust ventilation.

The described type of air conditioner can help get rid of heat and stuffiness. However, you do not need to expect the same performance from it as from traditional climate systems. In order for it to bring at least some benefit, it is necessary to constantly add water and keep rooms with open windows and vents.

Conclusion

What is better - to buy ordinary climatic equipment or mobile air conditioners without an air duct? The reviews of people are unambiguous: if it is possible to install normal systems, then it is better to install them.

After all, the described type of air conditioner is the most common humidifier with a set of advanced features and in a stylish modern case. It cannot cool the air with high quality, especially in a few minutes, and maintain the set temperature. However, an air conditioner without an air duct can make it easier to stay in rooms where it is not possible to install normal equipment. At least it's better than a fan that blows hot, stuffy air around the room. The only thing that is needed is to add cold water in time and create a draft in the room.

Many people say that buying such an air conditioner is throwing money away. But it's not. It just serves a slightly different purpose. While standard climate systems are aimed at cooling the air in the room or heating it, air conditioners (humidifiers) perform the task of purifying the air space and saturating it with silver ions. Most users of such a device compare purified air with high mountain air.

Some escape from the stuffy air by spraying with water. But why make such sacrifices if you can buy a high-quality air conditioner without an air duct and feel like a person, and not “jelly in the sun”.

Today, air conditioning is not a luxury, but a means of creating comfortable living conditions. But installation situations are different. For example, if the premises are rented, then not every tenant wants to spend by investing a certain amount of money in the premises. Or the second example, if the authorities forbid changing the facade of historical buildings with any modern technical devices. This is where a mobile air conditioner will help.

What is it for and where is it used

Compact air conditioners have appeared on the market recently, but they have occupied their niche thoroughly. Their main advantage is the small overall dimensions of a single unit, which is installed indoors. Such air conditioners are ideal for a house or apartment, in which it is difficult to install standard split models. Moreover, they are not in vain called "mobile". They are easy to move to another room, without any problems.

True, it should be noted that it is impossible to classify these devices as “quiet mobile air conditioners” for domestic use, because the compressor is located inside a single unit and it does not work in the quietest way. Therefore, it is better not to install them in the bedrooms. But for an office, this is an ideal option, especially if the company rents a room.

The principle of operation of mobile air conditioners

Portable air conditioners work in the same way as. Freon is used as a refrigerant, which, when compressed by a compressor, is strongly cooled. Thus, it enters the evaporator, through the walls of which it takes heat. That is, there is an exchange of temperatures. Therefore, condensation forms on the evaporator all the time.

At the boundary of the surface of the evaporator, a zone with a low temperature is formed. And the walls themselves are always cold. They are blown by a fan, thus, the air in the room is cooled. At the same time, freon, having selected the temperature, moves on. It passes through the compressor, where its pressure and temperature increase (up to +90C). In this form, the refrigerant enters the air conditioner condenser, where it is cooled by the operation of the blower fan.

It is in the condenser that freon from a gas passes into a liquid state. But its temperature is still quite high. To lower the temperature, a throttle is installed in the system - this is a capillary tube. It is here that the pressure of freon drops, and part of it passes into a gaseous state. The refrigerant moves further into the evaporator. And the process is repeated again.

The principle of operation of a mobile air conditioner is exactly the same. The only thing is that in split systems, the condenser with a blower fan is located outside in the outdoor unit. In the mobile model, all elements are in one block, which is installed indoors.

But there is another difference - the intake of warm air from the premises is carried out from the rear wall of the device. Therefore, the effectiveness of a mobile air conditioner must be approached from the position of how close it is installed to the wall.

Types of mobile air conditioners

Based on the principle of operation of the air conditioner of this model, it should be noted that the cooling condenser fan will drive warm air. The latter needs to be brought out somewhere, so manufacturers offer models with special sleeves (air duct), through which warm air will be vented out. Therefore, for the duct, it is necessary to provide a way to bring it to the street. Usually a window is used for this.

And since the air duct has a certain size, it is impossible to talk about one hundred percent mobility of the device. Let us denote that mobile air conditioners with two air ducts are offered on the market: for the exhaust of warm air, for the intake of fresh air from the street.

If we talk about a mobile air conditioner (one hundred percent), then it is necessary to designate a device in the design of which there is no air duct. The principle of its operation, namely the cooling of the condenser, is based on the evaporation of condensate, which is collected in a special container under the condenser. And condensate is formed on the evaporator, where it is collected in a tray and flows through the tube into a container under the condenser. The disadvantage of this design of the air conditioner is that the evaporating condensate increases the humidity in the room.

How to choose a mobile air conditioner

It is impossible to talk about the best mobile air conditioners without taking into account the criteria for their operation. For example, if the device will be transported frequently, then it is optimal to purchase a device without an air duct. Or if you need to cool large rooms, you will have to accurately select the power of the unit.

What are the criteria for choosing a mobile air conditioner

Mobile air conditioners are selected in the same way as conventional split systems. And the main technical characteristic is power, it is also cooling capacity. This parameter is related to the volume of the refrigerated room. The ratio is as follows - 1 kW of refrigeration production per 10 m² of room area with a ceiling height of no more than 3 m.

But there are other factors to consider, for example:

  • the number of people working in the office;
  • number of equipment (household, office).

The more quantitatively these factors, the more powerful the unit must be purchased.

  1. The volume of the container in which the condensate is collected. Unfortunately, all mobile devices do not have pipes for draining liquid outside the premises. Therefore, the larger the collection, the less often it will have to be released. And you have to do it manually.
  2. Air conditioner dimensions. It is necessary to first determine the installation location, and then select the dimensions of the device itself according to its dimensions. Here it is necessary to take into account an important requirement of operation - the distance from the walls to the air conditioner should not be less than 30 cm.
  3. The choice is better to make towards the inverter model. It consumes 30% less electricity than the standard version. But outside the city, where voltage drops are common, the inverter air conditioner will not last long - it will fail.
  4. Noise level is also an important characteristic. The quieter the mobile air conditioner works, the better. Manufacturers in the product passport must indicate this parameter.

Calculation of the required power of a mobile air conditioner

In air conditioners, there are two parameters that are defined by one name, this is power. One of them was mentioned above, this is cooling capacity. The second name determines the power of the compressor unit in terms of electricity consumption. More often they pay attention to it, not realizing that this is just a parameter that you have to pay for. Although the expenditure side of operation has always been and is the main one for everyone.

It should be noted that the two powers are interconnected. The higher the cooling capacity, the higher the power consumption. By the way, the larger the dimensions and weight of the device. Therefore, the ratio can be as follows: if it is necessary to cool a room with an area of 20-25 m², you will need a mobile device with a power consumption in the range of 1-2 kW.

Accounting for the necessary functions and characteristics

Many experts emphasize that modern (mobile) air conditioners, in addition to standard functions, are equipped with additional ones. If there are plans to use them during operation, then purchase units with modes for cleaning and ionizing air, eliminating odors. As practice shows, these functions are rarely used, namely, they increase the cost of equipment.

It should be noted that some manufacturers produce products that work only for cooling. That is, it is a clean air conditioner in its principle of operation. They are the cheapest, small-sized, with a small mass. If you need a unit with heating or a ventilation function, you will have to fork out a little. Not to mention more complex modes.

Pros and cons of a mobile air conditioner

Let's start with the advantages of small mobile air conditioners. There are not many of them, but some of them deserve attention.

  1. Mobility. One hundred percent only for the device without an air duct. The second position has relative mobility, because the unit itself is tied by an air duct to the place of its output to the street.
  2. Installation does not require complex manipulations with the device, its connection and configuration.
  3. There are no communication elements for refrigerant circulation and condensate removal.
  4. Small dimensions and weight.
  5. Low price (relatively).
  6. There is no need to coordinate the installation site with the landlord.
  7. A wide range of models in terms of cooling capacity.

Now about the disadvantages, which are much greater than the advantages.

  1. The compressor is located indoors. It heats up during operation, raising the temperature of the air. It turns out that the air conditioner is mobile and cools the room itself, and immediately heats it up. A running compressor is an increase in noise, which is already a minus.
  2. No drainage for condensate. In the design of the device in the lower part of the case there is a container where condensed water is drained. It must be periodically freed with your own hands.
  3. The presence of an air duct. Firstly, this is a decrease in the presentability of the appearance of the device. Yes, and interior design, he does not bring positive aspects. Secondly, the warm air driven through the duct immediately transfers heat to the room through the walls. The reason is the lack of thermal insulation of the duct.
  4. With small overall dimensions, mobile units take up some space. And this is not always convenient, especially in small rooms.
  5. Like split systems, mobile air conditioners take air from the room, cool it and return it back again. That is, they do not saturate it with oxygen, it is good that filters are installed.

Popular models of air conditioners

It is difficult to talk about the best mobile air conditioners, because all well-known manufacturers of climate equipment produce them. Therefore, there are several models that, according to experts and consumers, have certain higher positive qualities.

  1. Ballu BPAM-09H. Works for both cooling and heating. It is considered the cheapest device on the market. But at the moment it is difficult to find it on sale.
  2. Hyundai H-AP1-03C-UI001. Works only for cooling. This is the smallest portable type air conditioner.
  3. Timberk AC TIM 09H P4. Modes - cooling and heating. One of the best options that work with the heating function. Many experts gave 10 points out of 10.
  4. Ballu BPPC-07H. Functions for both cooling and heating. The best model that works great in wet areas.
  5. Ballu BPES-12C. Only cooling mode. Of all the models on the market, it is the most powerful.
  6. Electrolux EACM-12EW/TOP/N3_W. Cooling only. The quietest unit, therefore recommended for installation in bedrooms. Got 10 out of 10.
  7. Bimatek AM400 for cooling. Another quiet option.
  8. Electrolux EACM-14ES/FI/N3. Also works only for cooling. The manufacturer tried to increase the disinfection functions of the passed air. And in this he succeeded well. Therefore, recommendations - suitable for allergy sufferers.
  9. General Climate GCP-09ERC1N1. Modes - heating and cooling. Devices with maximum efficiency. With a small cooling capacity, they cool large rooms well.
  10. General Climate GCP-12ERA1N1. Operates in cooling and heating modes. These models are equipped with a self-diagnostic function. Unique units that received 10 points out of 10.

This is just a small line of models that consumers and experts have identified as the best. But we must pay tribute to other brands and models, where there are worthy representatives of mobile air conditioners. In addition, much will depend on the technical characteristics and quality of the duct installation. As practice shows, many simply expose the corrugation of the duct to an ajar window. And this is dust, smells and noise from the outside, plus warm air, which is already unpleasant. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct the air duct through a special seal in the window opening or through a hole made in the wall, which must also be well insulated.

And finally, two useful tips:

  1. It is recommended to turn on the air conditioner two hours after it has been installed vertically.
  2. The device must be mounted in such a way that nothing interferes with the free air intake from its rear side. That is why manufacturers advise installation at a distance of 30 mm (minimum) from a wall or window.

Mobile air conditioners are no longer a rarity. They are used everywhere, there are positive reviews, even with enthusiasm, there are also negative ones. Many are confused by low functionality, and some models lack a remote control.

For a long time, air conditioners have become a familiar element of everyday life. It is hard to imagine how we ever managed without these indispensable helpers, neutralizing the whims and complexities of our difficult climate.

After all, they help to survive the suffocating heat of summer and the piercing cold of winter without compromising our comfort, and most importantly, our health.

To determine what are the criteria for a competent choice of a mobile air conditioner for an apartment or industrial premises, one should know both the strengths and weaknesses of such climatic equipment.

pros

  • Mobility - the ability to seamlessly move the air conditioner to any place, depending on the needs and preferences.
  • The ability to not only cool, but also heat the room. For comparison, a split system can operate in heating mode only at an (outdoor) temperature within -5 degrees, which is not so common in Russian winter conditions.

A mobile air conditioner can be installed independently, without having special skills, knowledge and tolerances. It is enough just to carefully and thoughtfully consider the recommendations set out in the instructions.

  • Diverse functionality. Depending on the needs and personal preferences of the owner, you can configure any set of functions. This is usually detailed in the instructions.

Minuses

  • Noise. Unfortunately, the characteristic sound emitted by a mobile air conditioner is noticeably stronger than the noise from a split system. The reason for this is the location of the equipment directly in the room. You can use the "quiet" mode, but the cooling quality will be much lower.

To remove hot air, some models have a corrugation that is displayed outside the room. It is necessary to carefully consider how it will be mounted. Usually, a special frame is used for this, and the gaps between the corrugation and the edges of the hole are sealed.

  • The need for drainage, which is a tube through which condensate is discharged, which is inevitable during the operation of the device. Some models are equipped with a condensate collector. These containers must be emptied manually.
  • The mobile air conditioner is installed on the floor, so it requires some free space.

By comparing the pros and cons of the device with your needs and desires, you can come to the final decision on the need to purchase a mobile air conditioner.

If the decision is positive, we proceed to the choice of a model suitable for a particular apartment. How to do it?

Criterias of choice

  • The most important criterion is the power of the air conditioner. For cooling 10 sq. meters of area requires 1 kW of device power. The maximum power of such devices is 4.1 kW, which is more than enough to cool a room with an area of 40 square meters. meters.

When choosing the optimal power of the air conditioner, it is necessary to take into account not only the volume of the room, but also the presence of heat sources in it: people and appliances, the operation of which is accompanied by some heat transfer. At the same time, it must be remembered that the constant operation of the device at maximum power will lead to an early failure.

  • Condensate trap. It is produced in different volumes and is bought in addition to the main set of equipment.
  • Manufacturer. On sale you can find surprisingly budget models of unfamiliar brands. Do not give in to the temptation to save - this is a very controversial issue. Most likely, the air conditioner will not last long, presenting an unpleasant surprise in the form of difficulties with service or lack of spare parts.
  • Design. A common feature of all floor air conditioners is a laconic and elegant appearance. This is due to the fact that climate technology is not a defining element of the interior, and therefore its design should be discreet without sacrificing aesthetics.

Functional. Mobile air conditioners can both cool and heat rooms. Some models are equipped with additional options - air purification and ionization, as well as a timer and remote control.

Mobile conditioners are issued with an air duct, and without an air duct. How to make a choice? Let's see what their difference is.

Models with air duct

The ducted air conditioner includes a compressor and an evaporator. The air from the room is taken in by a fan and divided into two streams inside the device.

The first of them is cooled in the evaporator, and then enters the room, the second is used to cool the condenser and is discharged through the air duct to the environment.

Some models have two air ducts. In this case, the intake air is taken "from the street" and not from the room, which ensures continuous ventilation and optimal air humidity.

Undoubtedly, the equipment with an air duct makes the device's mobility rather relative, but, according to many consumers, not critical, given the extended functionality.

Models without air duct

These are truly mobile air conditioners, the undeniable convenience of which is installation in any place that suits the owner. The principle of its operation is the absorption of heat from the air by evaporating moisture from a porous filter through which the air taken from the room passes.

Models of air conditioners without an air duct are very economical - during operation, their energy consumption does not exceed 85 watts. The only limitation is that the effective operation of such a device is possible only in rooms whose area does not exceed 25 sq.m.

Thus, the choice of mobile climate control equipment is determined by its type, functions, power, operating conditions and individual needs of the buyer. You can find out what the choice of a mobile air conditioner looks like in practice by watching the video.

The choice of a mobile air conditioner for the home should be done in winter. As in the saying - "prepare the sleigh in the summer, and the cart in the winter." The same is true with air conditioning. In winter, prices for mobile air conditioners are much lower, sometimes the difference with the summer period is up to 50%. In winter, the choice is no less, and they are not taken apart like hot cakes in the summer.

Let's look at the main points related to the choice of a mobile air conditioner in the article, listen to customer reviews and find out what are the prices for the most popular models.

How to choose a mobile air conditioner for the home, its structure and principle of operation

Structure

The mobile conditioner is a monoblock. That is, it has two main devices:
- device for taking air from the atmosphere
- air conditioning device, that is, its cooling.
If in traditional wall-mounted air conditioners (split systems) these two devices are separated from each other and connected by tubes, then in a mobile air conditioner they are together, under one housing.

Principle of operation

Air is sucked in from the room through openings in the housing and cooled in the compressor. In this case, the compressor heats up from its operation, hot air is formed, which must be discharged into the atmosphere. But if hot air is immediately released into the room, then it will not be cooled: the cooled air will mix with hot air and, as a result, there will be no cooling effect.
Therefore, hot air must be vented to the atmosphere outside. To do this, a corrugated tube is attached to the mobile air conditioner (length - no more than 1.5 meters!), Which is connected to a special hole, and its other end is led out through a window or window into the street.

There are some mobile air conditioners that have two holes in their composition: the first is for air intake, and the second is for hot air to be removed.

But in this case, there should already be two corrugated pipes, which should be separated from each other at a great distance so that the hot exhaust air is not immediately sucked back into the system and cooled. Otherwise, the air conditioner will actually cool itself.

Cooling is carried out by refrigerant, as in a refrigerator. The most environmentally friendly refrigerant is R410A.

We look at the video, how to choose a mobile air conditioner for your home.

Advantages and disadvantages

Pros:

Mobility. You can take it with you to your country house, to your store, you can drag it to any room where you are at the moment.
- there is no need for installation, as is the case with wall-mounted split systems. That is, he bought it - brought it home - plugged it into the network - brought the corrugated pipe out into the street. Simple and easy.
- cheapness. The price of mobile air conditioners starts from 8,000 rubles in winter. In the summer - 30-50 percent more expensive.

Minuses:

Mobile air conditioner intensively sucks air from the room. Moreover, the suction volume is quite large - at least 300 liters per minute. That is, given that air is released into the street through a corrugated pipe, the air conditioner sucks in air from neighboring rooms through all the cracks (entrance door, electrical panel, ventilation shaft, etc.). Thus, if the windows in the neighboring rooms are open, then the hot air from the street begins to be intensively sucked into the apartment and raise the temperature in the neighboring rooms.

Solution in this case:

a) moving the mobile air conditioner to the balcony, while using polyethylene and adhesive tape, it is necessary to strengthen the corrugated pipe so that cold air is supplied through it into the room through the window;
b) the purchase of such a mobile air conditioner, which has two pipes - one is sucked in air from the street, and the other is discharged hot exhaust air to the street. But there are very few such models. And remember: the length of each pipe must be more than 1.5 meters, otherwise your device will overheat and break.

Low cooling capacity and low efficiency (COP). This is due to the same principle of operation - two in one. Usually average values of temperature drop by mobile air conditioners in the room - minus 5 degrees from the one that was in the room before it started working. And this is very little, given the fact that in summer the temperature in the premises can rise to +35 +38 degrees.
This is also related to the fact that the area of the cooled room by mobile systems does not exceed 25 square meters.

Solution to the problem: buy and install more expensive and more powerful wall-mounted split systems.

Noise. Considering that this is a monoblock, that is, both a fan and a compressor are located in the same housing, all this is quite noisy and does not allow you to fall asleep normally at night.

Solution to the problem: moving the air conditioner to the balcony.

Water flows. Since the warm air cools sharply, condensation forms in the air conditioner (like in a refrigerator), which drains and which must be periodically removed by yourself, otherwise it will spread around the room.

Solution to the problem: buying more expensive mobile air conditioners, in which the condensate evaporates on its own.

Reviews

We have analyzed all reviews of mobile air conditioners on the Internet. And they all have a few basic starting points that repeat from review to review:

- very noisy
- Poor cooling
- “We bothered to clean the condensate every hour”,
- “one bag with corrugated hoses”,
- “there is a constant stench in the room from the neighbors, from the site and from the ventilation”,

- "mobility",
- “you can take it to the dacha in the summer, but it’s expensive to put the split system in the dacha”,
- "I put it on the balcony, brought the pipe into the room, and the room is cold and quiet",
- "cheap".

And here is a video from ordinary users with their reviews:

And this video introduces the Ballu BPES-09C model:

Installation

Installing a mobile air conditioner is simple, but has its own characteristics. The most important thing is the removal of hot air through the pipe. The length of the pipe must be no more than 1.5 meters, otherwise the device will overheat.
You can bring the pipe out through the window, through a specially made hole in the glass, as well as into the ventilation hole in the wall.

When a strong heat sets in, people who gape and do not have time, a desire arises urgently - after all, it costs less than a wall-mounted split system (at least at first glance), does not require special installation (and therefore you can start cooling with it on the same day).

According to the manufacturers, a mobile floor air conditioner is able to replace a full-fledged wall-mounted air conditioning system (all modes are declared: cooling, heating, ventilation and dehumidification).

Obvious advantages of mobile models

However, with floor air conditioners, everything is not so simple. The advantages of such equipment - the ability to move to any other room, the absence of installation fees and the possibility of operation on the day of purchase are talked about at every corner, but they prefer to remain silent about the "reverse side" of a mobile air conditioning system ...

Purchasing a mobile air conditioner is an acceptable option only for those who are in a "hopeless" situation and for one reason or another cannot install a full-fledged air conditioner - a wall-mounted split system. For example, who rents an apartment or office for a short period of time, or whose office is located in a historic building, on the facade of which it is forbidden to place outdoor units.

In the above cases, people have no choice but to buy a mobile air conditioner, since they simply have no other way to cool off in the hot summer. For the happy owners of their own apartments or offices, it is better to immediately abandon the idea of acquiring a mobile version of the air conditioning system.

Hidden disadvantages of mobile air conditioners

Loud noise during operation. They work really loud!

Due to the fact that all technological equipment in a mobile air conditioner is located in one block (monoblock design), the mobile device is very noisy. The average noise pressure level is 45-50 dB, which is comparable to the operation of a conventional vacuum cleaner. And if in the office, where it is always noisy anyway, the constant "buzz" of such a device can be endured, but you will definitely not be able to fall asleep at home with the "mobile phone" turned on!

Very uneconomical. Energy efficiency coefficients are 1.5 times lower

All equipment is located in one unit, which needs to be made as compact as possible (no one wants to buy a "big fool", so manufacturers are forced to cram everything into a tiny case. Therefore, the use of modern energy-saving technologies is out of the question here - they simply are not there places.

Low performance. Cooling power up to 2.8 kW

Another consequence of the limited space in the monoblock design for placing the technological stuffing is that all mobile models have a low cooling capacity, which is further reduced due to the fact that part of the cooled air is constantly escaping through the open window.

Yes, you will also need to keep the window open!

After all, the heat accumulated from the room air must be removed to the street. And since there is no outdoor unit in the mobile version, this can only be done with the help of a conventional corrugated hose, which must be led out through an ajar window (flies, city noise and dust will gain access to your premises).

There is no heating function!

You may have already seen the information that you can also get warm with a mobile air conditioner, just like with a wall-mounted split system. But it's not! The split system is a heat pump that pumps heat from the room to the street in cooling mode, and vice versa - in heating mode.

A mobile air conditioner cannot do this in any way, since it does not have an outdoor unit and therefore it is in principle not capable of accumulating heat from the outdoor space and transferring it inside. In order for mobile-type air conditioners to be able to heat the air, electric heating elements are simply built into them (like conventional fan heaters), which perform the function of heating in mobile air conditioners.

In general, to summarize, you should not consider purchasing a mobile air conditioner as a good alternative to wall-mounted split-system air conditioners.

The mobile unit is suitable as soon as an express rescue for citizens dying from the heat, but if you want to get a really full-fledged air conditioner, you better take a closer look. Any, even the most inexpensive wall-mounted air conditioner in terms of comfort will be 10 times better than even the most expensive mobile air conditioner.
